USC Class of 2024 Applicants Thread

@CADREAMIN can i switch before freshman year starts

@Ultra39w85 yes, it’s all about managing time and $. Minors require more than people think - there has to be x amount of unique classes for the minors, so it can be way more credits than people realize going in. Which adds semester(s) and subsequent costs. But it can be done.

Do I still have a shot at WBB during the regular round? I know a lot (if not all) of the spots were filled during the scholarship round. Thanks!

Anyone receives anything?

nope

Ok, S is still sleeping because he hasn’t been feeling well for three days (!), It would be nice for portals to update about now…(hopefully with good news of course)

@furryhear Depends on the School within USC. Some Schools make internal transfers into them effective only for the next semester. And for within Schools, at least for some, it can be as easy as just requesting the change. It really varies by School and majors… current vs requested. But yes… it is theoretically possible. It just depends on your initial assignment and new goal.

Just updated my portal and nothing yet… I live in Ga

@CarBarlos Yes that has lowest acceptance rate, but engineering’s acceptance percentage is lower than the 11% overall as well.

There is a stats thread already rolling btw

what’s the acceptance rate for Dornsife? does anyone know?

Anyone doing anything productive today? Ha. Maybe clean your room in between portal checks, it will make your mom happy and be a distaction.

@gilliangrace Likely slightly higher than the overall USC admission rate. I would speculate 12-14% for Dornsife. But let’s face it, it’s all super competitive.

@flurryhear No. You can’t move into engineering before school starts if admitted to another school. It’s a process that has pre-reqs that have to be done first.

do we think an email will arrive before the portal update like the portal says? or that emails will be delayed like years prior and the portal will update first?

Can’t say for sure, but I think portals will update first. The email has always been after. And logically, they can’t send email till portal is actually updated…Also, cc is quick to post an update. Unless they dress it different this year, portal should update to look like this:

@CADREAMIN My D has school today — at home, distance learning — with all classes on Zoom plus a test today so she’s plenty distracted. I’m going nuts, though!

My portal says: You will be notified via e-mail when your decision has posted.

@pocket22 Ya, sometimes I think this day is harder on the parents (but don’t tell applicants that). Good for your D to be busy!

do updates usually come at 00 and 30, or should we just keep checking lol
