If you won’t qualify for financial aid we didn’t have to fill out the CSS correct?
On the common app you chose for each school wherever you want to apply for financial aid or not. If you picked “not”, then none of the forms are needed. If yes, then you need to follow the requests from Fast on your child USC portal. And CSS is one of the requirements as well as FAFSA. They will determine whether you qualify or not. UC’s website has a great table showing range of income and how much the student can qualify for public schools, private and ivy’s.
4:09pm on the 20th was the first post here to be exact, ha. So just after 4pm is likely the target. Turn off phones and release decisions as they are walking out the office door (Or remotely of course!) Just like finding out teacher assignments in elementary school, always done at end of a day and on a Friday so they didn’t have to get yelled at. Except then, they were taped to a window, and the school secretary made a mad dash out the back door and peeled out in her car!
Our school had them posted after hours and parents saw them only the next morning. The specific teacher mattered more in elementary school for sure. Thankfully most people that get into the elementary teacher roles are so immensely dedicated to provide all kids with a great experience, that has been our experience.
I believe that last year about this time some school counselors received information about the amount of applications and how many they are planning to admit etc. Anyone heard anything about it yet?
correct
FAFSA and CSS are for financial aid only. They are not required for admissions or scholarships unless there’s a need component to the scholarship.
This brings me BACK!!! How are the kids almost adults??
Thank you both. All this talk of CSS/tax statements, etc. made me nervous. We won’t qualify for fin aid, though won’t be paying $90K for an undergrad! Playing the lottery ticket for fun to see what comes of it…
I believe it is one of the most competitive majors to apply to at USC. You can only get in as a Freshman applicant and they aim for a Freshman cohort of 55.
any portal astrology people?

Anyone know about the competition for Dornsife Biology?
Specifically Biological Sciences, my second choice was human biology
Does USC Viterbi ask for a supplemental essay? The viterbit admission page says “USC writing supplement”, but this blog (How to Answer the USC Viterbi Supplemental Questions on the Common App – USC Viterbi | Undergraduate Admission) posted some viterbit’s specific questions. Can anyone help clarify? Thanks.
Yes, Viterbi has supplemental essays. The blog you posted listed the two current essay prompts. These are in addition to the general “why USC” prompt.
How are they told it isn’t available by April? When they click on it? I don’t quite understand what you’ve said here.
