I do not believe that they have announced it officially yet. My best guess… based on how they seem to like to operate… would be Friday, January 19th. It was Friday, January 20th, last year.
I have not seen the request to email tax returns, am i missing it somehow? The only thing completed is my CSS currently. Do I still need to email them?
I had the same question above. My FAST makes no mention of needing additional forms at this time. I’m assuming the information in the CSS was deemed sufficient.
"Appeal Concerning Increase in Estimated Cost of Attendance. "
In doc library, anyone is told that isn available by April or empty?
Mine was written " it wasn’t available by April . But now it is empty.
It was announced this morning that EA decisions will be released on Friday, January 19th.
What was that form under, like what did you click to see it? Was it under your required documents? All that is underneath my required document is FAFSA
Ok, thank you. I think when it said like “you have been selected” it it doesn’t apply to everyone so I must not have been selected to do it because I do not see that at all, I’m not sure why.
I think is random.
Not random.
I have a question. If becoming merit scholar or trustee , president, etc, when does financial aid come for these scholars ? I wonder because scholarship would be added to financial aid portion. And fafsa is delayed so financial aid cannot come for EA i guess.
How do you think they select people?
Because they need to see this applicant. Over 40,000 people apply, so the financial office doesn’t have to workers to wotk for all. Financial aid office and admission office is separated . In my opinion , we understand different way.
Some think financial office work for all application, doesn’t get any information.
I think financial office work for some applications which they take over from admission office for candidates.
However, many students get in without requiring any docs.
I think only that someone was required this information, it is positively good sign
It is only my opinion so please don’t mind.
If you need financial aid, apply for it. It will not impact the admissions decision either way.
As suggested above, USC Financial Aid will often ask for things directly. And they expect you to upload them through FAST. They will list within the FAST portal (for financial aid) everything received and everything still needed. Having already submitted them through CSS and /or FAFSA may not suffice. Often, they request the same item(s) even more than once. Sometimes, they will even invent a new request, meaning that they want you to generate a letter or explanation to upload.
It really all depends on the applicant’s family’s financial situation. If it is clear that you will not qualify for any financial assistance, they may elect to stop asking for additional info to save that time and effort for both sides. But otherwise, they are working as diligently as possible to finalize every potential FA offering for every applicant who also applied for FA.
The key thing is to simply take it all in stride and supply whatever they ask for… even if you have already submitted it directly to them before. There is no point in arguing or trying to explain that they already have it. Simply give it to them again if they ask for it again. My advice is to just get used to it. We dealt with it for two students and eight FA cycles.
But generally speaking, the FAO will replicate many requests for items already submitted to CSS. And as stated above, your FAST portal can seem complete time after time, but then they may simply ask for something new or for you to replicate a submission. So maybe get used to checking it often. Or, if you ignore it, they will eventually email you too, telling you to check FAST.
And yes… although it seems to defy logic, Financial Aid and Admissions are on two completely separate & independent paths until when admissions announces its decisions. The FAO will basically learn who is being admitted as you and every other applicant are. But until then, they will work as diligently as possible to get everyone’s FA account/profile completed… just in case someone who applied for FA is admitted.
So, you will derive no hints regarding potential admissions via the FAO or their communications with you. That is just the reality of how they operate.
As for scholarship monies of any kind, they are simply factored into the equation, lessening the perceived need. It is not the case that scholarships simply stack with other university or federal grants, etc. In many instances, for an admitted applicant who was set to receive a tremendous amount of financial aid, including a large university grant, a new scholarship simply lessens the university grant. It does not necessarily lessen the family’s expected financial contribution.
For those admitted with a merit scholarship, whether or not that eventual FA offering (if applicable) will be forthcoming quickly will all depend on whether the FA file for that admitted applicant is complete or not. They endeavor to have such FA offerings available within a few days of admission decisions. But that could depend on whether the applicant paid attention along the way and made sure that the FAST profile seemed fully complete… with no outstanding requests that remain pending.
Good Luck…
Do you know what time it came out last year?
I think this is little complicated this year due to FAFSA delay. Especially for EA. Could be that USC decision letter will copy other EA universities that the financial aid will be offered later, but if they want to stick to the same offer as always, then you would think they need to get that financial info some other way?
I don’t think we have to apply financial aid separately. When we submit fafsa and CSS profile, the financial office works for us who submit it. We never applied financial aid specifically. Automatically financial aid came to us by measuring our EFC in financial office. In my question, scholars who were awarded scholarships in previous years, when did they get all to pay tuition finally. Because financial aid and scholarships couldn’t be overlapped previous years i heard from NMSQT finalist who got in usc. She didn’t get this award because she got financial aid .does Anyone know about this?
I believe that it was 4-5pm Pacific Time Zone last Jan 20th. So, 7-8pm Eastern.
