USC Class of 2028 — Regular & Early Action Decisions

My D24 has applied EA for the BS to ODT program. I have searched for application and acceptance numbers/stats but haven’t found much.

We were asked to send taxes. Not just parents tax supplement form, but also fax or email PDF of physical tax returns.

That seems good sign. Did you alredy fill out parents supplement tax form before?

Yes

Also on my son’s portal it says that middle term grades were received.

We received both (email and letter).

I started to be worried since we submitted parents supplement tax form but we are not requested anymore. In previous CC, most were requested veri tax form and got in.
Our fast portal is " require action"

I don’t think this is an indicator of anything. Perhaps something doesn’t match with CSS form and they may want to see tax returns to confirm it.
When you log into the site it will say: forms received:
CSS application
Parents supplemental tax
When you click on forms required it says:
FAFSA application
Parents taxes

Once you click on parents taxes it gives you an option to fax it or upload it
The funny thing is that only one pdf can be uploaded. So if you have separate tax returns you’ll need to combine them into one pdf.

Anyone applying for the Business Cinematic Arts program at USC Marshall? Curious how competitive this program is…

I dont think this is related, but I recieved an email that says my financial aid application is incomplete, and on my FAST it doesnt show my FAFSA being recieved, but I did send it in a week or so ago, what should I do to make sure it uploads in time for Jan 12?
Also maybe it says FAST is not complete because I didnt fill out anything from the document library except for the CSS which was recieved, are the document library documents a requirement? I havent been asked to fill out anything else, but should I just in case something from that list is what is missing?

Welcome! Financial Aid will continue to ask for documents again and again up until the day that admissions decisions are released. However, if you already submitted the FAFSA, your student’s FAST page may not be updated yet. Your best bet is to call the Financial Aid office and confirm that they received it. WARNING: You will likely be on hold for a long time. Call while you have something else to do to pass your time. I would also recommend calling when they first open at 9 am PST.

I thought FAFSA’s weren’t being submitted from the government until late January, even if you already completed your part.

When I go to FAST, it says Required Document (FAFSA), which won’t be sent until late January. Then Received has the CSS. Nowhere have we been asked for a Parents supplemental tax form. Curious why others have been asked for it unless the CSS was incomplete?

We received an info that they know FAFSA will not be able to send their application to schools until early February so this item will keep showing as missing. Thus they asked to email tax returns by Friday.

My son’s portal asked for parents supplemental tax form besides CSS and like a day or two later also asked for physical tax returns to be faxed or updated.

As stated multiple times over the years on CC… and on this specific thread as well… USC Financial Aid and Admissions are on two completely separate & independent paths until when admissions announces its decisions. The Financial Aid Office will basically learn who is being admitted as you and every other applicant are. So, you will derive no hints regarding potential admissions via the FAO, FAST, or their communications with you. That is just the reality of how they operate. For the most part, their updates to FAST and even their communications with you are automated. Their goal is to simply get every applicant who also applied for financial aid ready and their FA file fully complete should a positive decision emerge from admissions. This may seem to defy logic, but it is in fact the way it is.

Likewise, the emails and snail mail letters described above are also not hints.

The only real exception to this would be a direct email inquiry from your assigned admissions counselor asking for more info or some clarification. That I would take as a very good sign. At worst, it is an indication that you are at least being heavily considered for admission. You may be on the bubble so to speak. The same could apply if an admissions rep from within the USC School that houses your first choice major has reached out to you directly for some clarification.

But you will otherwise drive yourself crazy looking for hints from general USC communications or admissions portal changes or FAST portal changes, etc. I have been an active observer to this entire process dating back ten years now. I have likewise been active here on CC for those ten years. Find other distractions. USC has been doing this a very long time. They are good at keeping their decisions a secret until they are formally announced. You will not break some secret code… as the code simply does not exist to be broken.

Good luck to all awaiting EA decisions soon…

I absolutely agree with you that the financial aid department is just working its way thru each applicant to collect as much info in case they are accepted.
Although USC likes to send their acceptance including some financial aid info, unlike Pepperdine or Loyola sent acceptance that the financial aid package will be send separately in February.
