Leaning public here, same boat with credit, and I bet I can guess several of the schools you’re waiting for next week.

This is a solid strategy. Probably one they might end up doing!

My son also got accepted in Electrical Engineering in both Penn State and Pitt. He wants to commit to Penn but he also wants to wait for VT’s decision.

Unless there’s a reason to commit early (for example, scholarship opportunities), it seems best to wait so that he can fully evaluate all offers.

Yep, my kid also has near perfect stats, but doesn’t want to go to school in east so had zero interest in Ivies, plus the NMF scholarship is attractive. We are chasing merit, for the most part. He is just fine staying in state too. Lots of unique reasons make up a family’s collegiate decisions.

Anyone that got deferred- are you submitting LOCI?

Stanford

First big acceptance  feels surreal

What’s the latest one should wait?

You need to commit by May 1. There is no benefit in committing early unless the school has a weird housing situation. Some schools let you put down a housing deposit before committing. Accepted student days are mostly in April, so it makes sense to wait until then. The accepted student day was a HUGE factor for my daughter between her top two schools.

I believe most schools have a May 1 deadline to commit. Unless there’s an advantage to committing early, I don’t see a reason to formally accept before the deadline.

S Deferred Viterbi CS. Knew it was a long shot without calculus. Will not be continuing the process. Good luck to everyone else.

He got into Stanford CS without Calculus? I don’t mean that as challenging or derogatory; just genuinely curious.
