USC Class of 2028 — Regular & Early Action Decisions

I have, i got requests before admisions and after. I would call them.

Also, anyone know what the chances of getting a spring admit moved to fall? Does this happen? They say if spots open up.

Thanks for the update @leogawa!

Reinstating AAA and EF is huge. Way to rise up students! Glad they fought to get that back - it means a lot to many, it did to mine for sure!

It’s all about enrollment - sometimes virtually none get moved (over enrollment and the incoming class was too big), sometimes a sprinkling of a few here and there which seems to be the norm, then after the scandal, they moved many because less committed than they knew to anticipate (before the scandal). They ask that students don’t ask to get moved, they understand everyone wants to. If a major/school ends up with space, they contact you. Just gets a bit awkward if student has made a commitment to international school etc., but most are happy to get the nod.

Eager to hear from those who attended Explore USC today. :v:

Attended today. Cardinal Track. Viterbi presentation was very good and energetic. CS cohort seemed to be the biggest contingent (out of the 415 admitted out of 15K Viterbi applications). works out to an acceptance ratio of ~2.7%.
Weather was gorgeous, campus was wonderful, D24 loved it!

I’d love to hear from Marshall families who attended Explore USC this weekend – my daughter caught a stomach virus the day before and we had to cancel our flights across the country. She is SO disappointed. We have visited campus before, but she was really looking forward to a rah-rah moment! We rebooked for the weekday visit next week, but it won’t be the big event we realize.

We are local and attended. My daughter will also be in Marshall. The Marshall event itself was mainly an informational session. If you participated in the meet Marshall Zoom event a couple of weeks ago, it was pretty much the same thing. There were about five students who gave their Marshall story and a Q&A at the end. The Trojan band performed during lunch and that was the most rah-rah part of the day. It was nice to have the opportunity to walk through some of the dorms. The neighborhood tour stuck to the perimeter around campus and drove halfway down the Row. I think you will be just as happy with the weekday event and the opportunities scheduled during that to meet with students and faculty in a smaller setting.

Thanks. We didn’t attend any online Marshall events, thinking we had it all covered in our in person visit! Did you get to go on the dorm tours? That was a big draw for her choosing Sunday’s event. Also, she was hoping she might meet some future classmates with so many people on campus.

We toured New North & Birnkrant. The lines were long for the dorm tours!

We attended the event in person. My daughter is admitted to the BUAI major in Marshall. The information session was good and she was able to connect with several future classmates. The student ambassadors were available to provide additional information. Aside that, the dorm tours were useful. Lines were long but we were able to check out the different types of rooms. We didn’t stay for the other tours and headed out by by 3 PM as we had to drive back to the Bay Area.

We toured the Pardee residential hall, long line as well. The lounge is nice. McCarthy Honor Dorm didn’t have open house, we couldn’t go in to take a look. The Trader Joe’s and Target store are right next to the McCarthy Dorm, good and bad at the same time.
S24 has not decided which college, battle for USC or UCLA.

i received my aid offer, but it was only based on my CSS profile. i don’t think they will be able to complete the updated aid offers with FAFSA for a while. this is what mine said:

“Your estimated financial aid is based on information the Financial Aid Office has received to date and does not include the FAFSA.”

i believe they will begin to update w/ FAFSA this and next month, possibly after the commitment day which is unfortunate for many

Went in person (Dornsife). Good event although a little redundant if you have done the online info sessions. Best part was getting the feel of campus and walking around. A friend let us take a peak at McCarthy, and that was the big selling point for my kid. Having all the restaurants out your front door is pretty awesome. We walked about fifteen minutes off campus twice and although there were some homeless we never felt unsafe. Students and security guards everywhere. I wish the inside of the campus buildings were as nice as the outsides but everything is generally well maintained. All the students seemed pretty happy and friendly.

She was offered a pretty nice package at USC. Where else is she considering?

so curious, is the acceptance rate truly 2.7%? defintley less than 10% since that is the usual for viterbi. but i believe it is 410 fall, 50 spring admits who are expected to attend. is that the expected yield or the total amount admitted? thank you!

I wonder if we aren’t looking in the right place? where did you find your financial offer?

i was emailed about the update, and then the email told me to check the FAST portal. i don’t think it’s on you, i think it’s just general FAFSA delays. i filled out my FAFSA the day it opened and it processed in march so that might have possibly led to me getting my aid package earlier?

you were emailed about the update as the parent (not the student)?
