USC Class of 2028 — Regular & Early Action Decisions

i dont know about the breakout of the 415. those were the numbers that Paul Ledesma put up as incoming Viterbi admit stats

Did Ledesma say anything about non CS Viterbi admits being accepted to all Viterbi majors including CS? They stopped pre-engineering applications for CS. I wonder if they stopped internal engineering change of majors to CS as well.

sorry i’m a student

he didn’t say directly but i believe someone earlier linked a website about how viterbi did ban transfers into CS like many schools. he just said that overall, viterbi admits are admitted to all majors including undeclared engineering

I’m curious too.

In the past the Viterbi acceptance rate has been normally 1-2% lower than the overall USC acceptance rate. For example, last year Viterbi was “less than 8%” while USC at 10%:

The 400+ number seems more like the expected enrollment number. For example in the Class of 2027 First-year Student Profile:

Total Fall enrollment 3,633 * 13% Viterbi ~=472. It’s hard for me to imagine they admit ~400 people and expect to yield also ~400…

They stopped the pre-engineering applications into CS. That’s for people in departments/schools that want to transfer into Viterbi. Pre-Engineering - Admission & Student Engagement | Current Undergraduate Students

However, the Viterbi admission website still says, “If you’re admitted to one of our engineering programs, you are admitted to all of them.” The following line is “No major is easier or more difficult to get into than any other, and none of the programs are impacted” so I assume that page is out of date. However, a couple of recently posted Viterbi Voices (and Viterbi Voices) mention changing to CS from other majors within Viterbi.

Haas is an amazing opportunity. I would totally go for Haas. My husband graduated from Haas and it opened a lot of door for him. Marshall is great but I would choose haas!:100::100::100:

Thank you.

Where can I see average GPA for Dornsife majors like we see in UC Berkeley?

We couldn’t attend Sunday’s admitted student day so we are now going on one of the smaller weekday events. We had to pay 50$ for the adult whereas Sunday’s larger event was free. Does anyone know why that is? I realized we get lunch in a dining hall, but still…$50 for the parent seems like a lot so I’m just curious if anyone knows about this.

maybe the lunch is nicer :flushed: the lunches on sunday were standard boxed lunches

My son was admitted to Viterbi and will have a presidential scholarship. Does anyone know the average gpa in Viterbi (can’t find the information anywhere) or how harsh grading in Viterbi is in general. He would need to maintain a 3.0 to keep the scholarship, and I’m wondering how challenging that is.

I believe university scholarships including Presidential require normal academic progress rather than a specific GPA.

Thanks so much for this information! I was sure I had read on the site before that it required a 3.0. Now I can’t find that anywhere, so I must be mistaken.

If your son wants to use Exceptional Funding to pay for units exceeding 18 units per semester or summer classes, then he would need a 3.0 GPA. Otherwise, it’s 2.0 GPA to keep his scholarship. Presidential Scholarship has many benefits.

Thank you! Great to know!

Last year, we had lunch in a banquet hall. It was a fancy catered lunch and the parents were seated with faculty from their child’s admitted school.
We went to both events last year and loved them both, but got a better feel for our daughter’s actual program from the weekday event.

Just to note, the Academic Achievement Award allows for fall and spring registration of up to 21 units at the standard full-time tuition rate. It’s minimum gpa is 3.75.

This is open to everyone, not just scholarship recipients.

Same. My daughter is also a Presidential at Dornsife and I am already prepping her that she needs to do well.

USC has some of the easiest rules for maintaining the scholarship. She basically needs to average 30 units a year (and even that has one allowed probationary period) and not let her grades drop so low that she will be kicked out of the school.
You can read the exact rules here:
