USC Class of 2029 — Regular & Early Action Decisions

FAFSA/CSS are not required if you are not seeking financial aid.

My now son-in-law started in the spring semester (my daughter started in the fall) and he didn’t regret his decision at all (computer science). He took transferrable cc courses which ended up being financially beneficial for him, and when he arrived to SC in the spring, he participated in convocation and all of the welcome events. My son-in-law and daughter graduated and both live and work in Boston now and love it. Fight on!

@CADREAMIN Hi there, Any info is helpful regarding my question and if it is really TTP and best suggestions. Thank you

I saw that a new parent was accepted to the Parent Facebook group yesterday. Hopefully you will be admitted soon. :crossed_fingers: :victory_hand:

Trying to connect woth some other parents with kids headed to USC for film production.

My daughter was accepted to film production at USC. Still deciding among 4 schools. Will be visiting this weekend.

We are also visiting. Mine has accepted the offer and put in for housing. The accepted kids are planning on getting together this weekend. Not sure if your student has connected with them but if not I can give you a way to put her in contact with the other kids.

We went to Explore USC yesterday. It was a fantastic event! The marching band played, my son had one on one time with professors and students in his field, parents had a catered lunch with faculty and a great speaker. My son got to meet with the head of his program and sit in on a junior level class. Last night he decided and clicked accept! We are so happy and excited for him.

Accepted to film production at USC?!!! Congrats - it’s an elite group! Good luck with your decision. Are you doing an Explore session?

We just received an email asking us to fill out Veritax for our 2024 taxes. We have already received our complete financial aid package. Does anyone know why they are asking for this?

We are doing a session this Sunday. We are agonizing over decisions. My daughter is interested in both film and creative writing/ English lit. Really wish she could have 5 years and do both.

I had a couple that double majored and another major/minored across two different schools at USC. “Easy” to do this - it’s all about time, commitment and money (their time and commitment, your money, ha). Mine took advantage of the AAA program where students with 3.75 can take up to 21 credits at the standard tuition rate.

They also did Maymester/summer school sessions a summer or two. My CS engineer/math major even only had 2 classes to finish his last semester of 4 years. The other took an extra semester, but that was because of the pandemic - they wanted senior year on campus so cut back on classes during that crazy time. They also planned their elective/core requirements scientifically to leverage those credits toward both majors. They took the hardest class possible in the summer (of those offered) so they could manage more credits in regular semesters. It takes planning!

It is really tough but can be done - we chose USC to be able to double major/minor and definitely because of the ease/flexibility to change majors. One of mine that double majored actually changed majors 5 times (yes 5 times, her advisor knew her well) before settling on 2.

Hope she is able to do whatever she wants to do wherever she ends up!

We actually sat down and tried to do a spreadsheet to figure out if she could do a second major. We didn’t factor in Maymester so we will take another look this week.

Thinking about something that would fit well with her interest in film/media.

Our eldest was able to do this at NYU: film production (documentary editing is her pathway) and environmental science.

The younger one maybe more communications/pr/adverising or journalism.

Just not sure.

does anyone have any advice for what to focus on in an appeal letter

Wondering if anyone is aware of a student who appealed a denial and was accepted? Asking for a friend (for real).

Rarely, but it does happen! You might find one or two stories online where a student successfully appealed a denial.
