USC Fall 08 transfers

“has any been able to find the “customized fax cover sheet” anywhere on OASIS???”

USCgal2b - “My admissions checklist” > “Browse available forms in our document library” > “Click here to submit other documents” > Tick “Trancript if faxed” > Click “Next Step” > Follow rest of instructions and you’ll reach “Download/Print Requested Documents” and voila! That should be it. I’m assuming you’re trying to send transcripts?

“Does everyone get a spring grades request? Have there been any rejections yet?”

chadbrochill - The adcom who is reviewing my file told me more than half, and almost 3/4 of all transfer applicants got Spring Grade Requests this year.

mapletree- Wow, that’s a LOT of people with SGR’s.

I know, I think they are doing everything they can to prolong the process. I have a feeling they’re falling behind, and this is exactly what the adcom who is reviewing my file said to me on the phone. “It’s not a negative thing; it’s a way to keep you in the system longer.”

Granted, I’m sure there are other reasons, such as borderline students, sophomores, etc, but I guess that’s another reason they’ve tacked on.

Hard to believe they’d admit that! lol. But I hope you guys are right and us others just get a straight answer in the next week or so as opposed to more SGRs. :/

I still don’t understand the advantage to USC by sending out so many SGRs when clearly most of them cannot be accepted. What the heck could be the real reason behind that?

In my opinion, it is simply prolonging the agony for so many students = really unfair.

sunshadow - its because of the sick pleasure the adcoms get out of determining our fates and emotions attached.

Lol, Woman of Troy, I know. The adcom who is reviewing my file sounded really young, almost like he was a college student himself, and he was super nice. And on occasion, I am good at getting information out of people ;)

I don’t know sunshadow. Something’s definitely happening behind the scenes. I’m picturing frantic adcoms, papers flying everywhere and people spilling coffee, but that’s in direct contrast to what Solomon said about the adcoms being “bored”. Beats me. I’ll ask your exact question next time I call and see if they can tell me anything useful.

Edit: Or what a la idioteque said. Much more likely :P

sunsetsam-no, actually, she was super personable, and was really cool about it and took time to answer my questions, etc. she was great!

a la idioteque-i have the same feeling. especially since i know a few SMC people heard friday/saturday, so i think it’ll be this week. i just need to know since this is going to be a RIDIC WEEK for me! now it’s like i have a 50/50 chance…eeeeeee…

mapletree-haha! your image of the adcom is cracking me up over here…i wonder if they are as frantic as we are, for those of us who are waiting to hear?

ksbr - SMC people heard? Were they CLAS? Do you know anyone who has been rejected from SMC yet?

They BETTER be as frantic as we are, with the amount of time they’re taking to roll out decisions! To everyone who gets accepted and decides to attend: Try and get an internship position at the Office of Admissions, okay? And bring a little spy camera so you can report back to the people on CC what on earth the adcoms do with their time.

mapletree- haha. :D

I thought I knew a lot about USC but my knowledge from the moment the app. is submitted to the way they make decisions= fail.

I wouldn’t actually say screw Memorial Day. I know it does slow down the decision process…because the holiday remembers those who died while serving their country. Come on guys!!

idioteque-yes, a friend of mine who is in two of my classes was accepted into psychology (unknown on her GPA/standing), and a friend of mine who goes to MiraCosta in SD had a friend accepted for chem last week as well.

sc girly-i agree, i definitely think memorial day has a great purpose…but it really is putting a wrench in my gears right now, outside of the whole USC thing…

mapletree: that was funny. yeah, i will do it if accepted. i think they do include one current student in their admissions board. I think UVA transfer admissions has a blogger who posts pictures and information of day to day transfer admissions activity.

ksbr27, I understand. It is frustrating.

All I know from my school is that 1 girl got an SGR, 1 was accepted and I’m still waiting. I lost contact of a couple of other people though…

Woman of Troy - Ditto. But there’s only so much we can know without actually being there, I guess. My cousin used to be a TA at Annenberg when she was getting her Masters there, and has a contact at the Office of Admissions. But he works at the Office of GRADUATE admissions :(

missworld - Really? I wonder what the chances are that the “one current student” interning there looks at this forum. Probably <1%. If you are here and reading this, TELL ALL!!!

So… does anyone know of anyone who got rejected from USC yet? Or are they saving all those until the end?

I haven’t heard of anyone getting rejected yet. I’m just glad to have received an SGR at this point haha.

I think those are later on, yeah. Usually mixed with late-is acceptances in the first weeks of June. :frowning: Oy!
