Ok, so from that can we deduce that if your status says “acted on” at this point in time, you’ve been accepted? That should be good news to people who have that status message, no?

didn’t someone post early on in the admissions period that they had a friend who was rejected from Marshall?

RESEARCH, COMMENCE!
(not me personally, i’m doing english projects, but WOT/maple/the rest of you crazy kids, go for it!)

ALSO, i did some research with the freshman applicants for this year on CC, and most of the freshman that were rejected got their letters on or after april 1.

More yes than no. It’s usually a good sign to know something in MAY.

ksbr-true. Except no one who legitimately posts on here has said they’ve been rejected.

All hearsay and speculation at this point. -_-

ksbr - Lol. Fine, I’ll do it, since I’m done with finals. I’m not going to rely on “my friend said he/she got rejected” though - it’ll have to be a primary source. I’ll look through some of the relevant Facebook groups too.

mapletree: i am not sure but i asked some other schools like uva and georgetown and the representative said that admissions board usually comprise of: director of admissions, dean of that college, a current professor, an alumni and a student. I have heard that this composition is used across the board in most universities. USC adcoms are kind of foxy. I have given up calling them because the only thing I hear from them whenever I call is “Transfer admission decisions will be released by June 1st”. I agree with the hypotheses that SGR provide nothing more than a leeway to adcoms. Even before I applied to USC, I did hear about its infamous admissions process. They better get reorganized next year otherwise I won’t be surprised if applicants storm their building with eggs and tomatoes. Secondly, what is the point of having all those online accounts when they won’t post the admission decision online. It is 1000 times better than waiting for USPS mail. Nonetheless, i was going through last year’s thread and found out that a couple of people did had their admission decisions posted online and almost all of those people were accepted. The waiting is draining me!

mapletree- Have you submitted your spring grades?

I am surprised that there have been little to none rejections so far. So that truly means that we are so early in the decision sending out process.

Happy page 400.

I say that with a tinge of gloom.

WOT- what do you mean “It’s usually a good sign to know something in MAY.”

Like it’s a good sign to hear from USC in anyway…be it spring grades, etc. in May?

i’m looking at our little list of acceptances…no humanities majors in CLAS yet with a yes/no decision. very, very interesting. (by humanities i mean english, languages, history, etc.) social sciences/econ mostly have heard.

i wonder if this will be the week?

I meant having the 3rd status change and subsequently getting acted on in May.

I think it depends on whether or not you got a SGR and when you send them in. Most junior applicants I’m assuming, will find out this week and next week? And those who submitted their spring grades a little earlier will too. I think?

WOT- thanks

WOT- thanks got it.

ksbr- My friend is CLAS: Gender Studies but I don’t think too many people apply under that major, right?

Woman of Troy - No. My grades get posted online in a week, so instead of emailing my teachers, I’m just going to wait for that.

Missworld - That’s good to know. I lol’ed at this: “USC adcoms are kind of foxy.” I instantly thought of hot women wearing high heels and glasses. Not what you meant, evidently.

I’m coming across some interesting stuff. From this article: [College rejection isn’t the end of the world - Los Angeles Times](http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-second14apr14,0,291029,full.story)

“USC admitted 21% of 35,809 applicants this spring. Fifteen years ago, the school accepted 70%.” (Freshman applicants, I’m assuming. But still, wow.)

“Over the summer, USC admissions officials will meet one-on-one with hundreds of rejected students, many of them legacies, to discuss their possible future enrollment.” SO THAT’S WHAT THEY’RE DOING WITH THEIR TIME!

WOT-i would consider gender studies as a “social” science (i.e. i’m going on how UCLA classifies things. OOPS) like psychology, political science, sociology, etc. my friend that was admitted is a psychology major, and i know science majors have heard as well. i’m thinking humanities is going to be close to last to hear.

maple-that article is what my dad referenced to me to try and deter me from waiting for USC, saying “UCLA/UC Berkeley want you, and USC only took 21%. just go to a UC.” so i kind of resent that article, haha.

Oh my gosh, and look at this. We’re famous! [“Transfer Students” | Forum Profile | BoardReader](<a href=“http://boardreader.com/fp/College_Discussion_15736/Transfer_Students_748432.html]"Transfer”>http://boardreader.com/fp/College_Discussion_15736/Transfer_Students_748432.html)

Grr. When I was working on my app and came across: did any of your parents or siblings attend USC? or, did any of your grandparents attend USC? I showed my mom and she laughed. :p
