USC Status Update

Wow, amazing. I asked my counselor and a teacher to do my recs for NTSAF 4 weeks ago and one just got submitted late today and the other hasn’t been.

:(

So I assume most of us who have had the “unable” status a couple days ago are now being reviewed by the committee?

can’t wait till the next wave…

when did the second wave come out last year??

After sifting through the old threads, I found that the “second wave” of decisions comes out AROUND the 10th of March.

So… I was just gonna read other people’s posts and be miserably anxious about getting into USC (it is my #2).

But I am thoroughly confused by this game USC is playing.

In the past week I have had:

“Your app is being reviewed… blah blah… decisions by April 1st”

“The admissions committee… blah blah… PRELIM REVIEW COMPLETE”

“Unable to process status”

“blah… blah… being reviewed, will mail decisions April 1st” (the first one)

“We received the fall grades we requested. We require no additional information at this time. We will mail decisions for freshman applications by April 1st” (or something to that extent).

HERE IS THE CATCH: I NEVER SUBMITTED MY MIDYEAR. I was gonna do it today; that’s why I logged on… and guess what? My alter ego got there before me? Or is USC crazy? Or are the statuses random?

I am currently leaning towards the last. Really, guys, I know people who have been accepted with STRANGE statuses. Not everyone I know who was accepted in the first wave had the “forwarded” status. A couple had “acted on” or “mailed” or even “reviewing”. So quit worrying and reading too much into this. I should probably take my advice first, but mine is so ■■■■■■■■ it’s not even funny. And I am just gonna call admissions tomorrow and talk to my heart’s content about how ridiculous this is.

But… on another note, I know people with legacy and amazing stats and extraordinary EC’s and leadership who weren’t accepted first wave. I don’t think any of you should worry about these statuses anymore, unless yours is psycho like mine.

Whatever. Maybe the computers at admissions spazzed.

^dude, I think you spazzed.

Lol, jk, yeah, this thing is stressing us out way too much.

I just got my letter saying I’m not in the running for Trustee or Presidential scholarships :frowning:
Although I kinda guessed that already.

Your school probably submitted your mid-year grades automatically. We’re not from California, but my D’s school automatically submits mid-year grades to everyone. We also went on and did it manually, just so they’d be there just in case. You might want to still log in and just update them online anyway.

So today I just got bumped from “being reviewed…April 1st” to “forwarded”.

I realize that many of these updates do not mean anything, but to my understanding the “forwarded” status generally indicates something positive, or a step in the right direction. Am I wrong?

Anyone else get this status as recently as today?

My son has the same message as you do sacrecrow521…wondering what, if anything, it means. Anyone out there have an inkling?

i got the same thing as scarecrow today. This has been the first time i got the 'forwarded" status. I also got a financial aid letter adressed to my parents this week if that has any relevance to this status message thing.

I did not get “forwarded” at the same time as many of those who were accepted in late January. I got it later, around 2 weeks ago. I never had the “unable to” status.

what does it mean if it says your application is being reviewed by the admission committee?

It IS frustrating to keep checking the status, it’s like running place. I have gone from “Complete” to “Being Reviewed” from “Completed Initial Review” to “Unable to Process” to “Being Reviwed” and now - in Late Feruary to “Completed Initial Review, the Committee wants to see grades from first term . . .” (which were mailed in December and had also been posted on the USC website. I went back to double check - the have them. Also e-mailed grades to Ad-Com with a copy of transcript, but no response . . .

I just don’t know how to interpret this, feels like somehow I’m slipping through a crack . . . at least it’s encouraging o see SOMETHING happening. And my first half grades are the best I’ve ever earned so hopefully the committee will like what they see!

“After sifting through the old threads, I found that the “second wave” of decisions comes out AROUND the 10th of March.”

oh, great. the decision better be a GOOD birthday present :|

^or ya might get a rejection, which wouldn’t come until later March, or April. The “second wave” was mainly acceptances.

Just playin’!

so if we have the “your application is being reviewed by the committee” status, they’re reading it and the status won’t change until the notification is mailed/??

As noted, last week mine changed from “Being Revirwed” to “We want to see the results of your first term” - which is very frustrating as my first term grades were sent a month ago, and were also posted on the website. I sent them again - by e-mail - however I can’t update the website, since they are already posted on the website. Something just doesn’t seem right.

@gashergina would that be a good or bad thing?

ACK! mine still says “…application is currently being reviewed…!”

I was asking, I have no idea, hahah.
