Everyone got facebook setup?

i should do that one of these days

ey how do u set up the usc email account??

can’t, it says it doens’t open up until 2 weeks before the start of the school year…

i can’t get into oasis
gotta ask usc to give me my pin.

Email worked for me the day of orientation, it didn’t before that. Actually, you can’t register for classes online without setting up an email address… :)

damn. then i dont want to do a facebook until i can set up a usc email because i dont want to make it with my ucr email. i cant be seen as a ucr student. ppl know me from my high school.

hey how bout this. whoever has a facebook, post up the link and technics or whomever will add each link next to the name on the Master List.

ok will do

i got my email working about a few days after i got oasis, which was about 5 ays after my acceptance.

but the facebook sounds good, im more of a myspace guy myself so im not too familiar with facebook

But DEFINITELY at the drinkathon. I’m living at cardinal gardens, which is 20 feet from campus (i lie not) so it’s in the middle of the action. it’s one of the most requested ones too, after troyhall/troy hall east

and Sex don’t really worry about getting one necessarily on campus. I haven’t heard great things about webb. I hear parkside is kinda quiet. Everyone seems to rave about Troy Hall and then to a slightly lesser extent cardinal gardens, which is where i am.

Well myspace would be fine by me, especially since some people can’t setup their facebook yet. Linkage: myspace and facebook

your myspace is pretty nice, i am jealous.

I requested.

I’m a dork, what can I say… that or… what else am I going to do at work all day? ;)

ehh dont worry bout it. im so old-fashioned that i dont even have a myspace or facebook.

mrpuppy - my son was a late transfer admit like so many on this thread - been keeping up with everyone out here to see their fate - congrats to EVERYONE accepted - sorry to those not. Been trying to help son find off campus housing downtown w/secure parking. Thanks for the link to METRO417 - it seems as reasonable as anything in that area and the managment seems professional and friendly on the phone. Now that you are moved in…would you mind giving your thoughts/opinions? How are you planning to commute to campus? Have you had a chance to see how long it takes to drive? No more parking permits on campus mean parking center only and taking the shuttle. Maybe the Metro has public trans nearby that stops at campus. Would really APPRECIATE any input!

Hi there, let me just say I’m loving the building. I moved in Saturday and everything has been great… this is easily the smoothest move I’ve ever made and the management staff has been wonderful. I hit one snag with parking, they gave me a spot that was too small for my car… however that has been completely cleared up, and security was wonderful helping with the problem until management could fully take care of it. The building is very secure, there is badge access to the building and floors… only people with a reason to be on a floor can get on a certain floor. The building is beautiful, all stone throughout… the apartment’s fixtures look like they came from an upscale house… I’ve never had cabinets and appliances this nice… and a washer/dryer in the unit… incredible. This place would be great on it’s own… now add in the second floor common area with the pool table, full gym, a private movie screening room, and etc ammenities.

The area is fantastic, right across the street is a subway stop to shot you around downtown and hollywood if you want it… there is a large fresh market across the street for produce and meat… tons of little restaurants within walking distance, and the area is clean and feels pretty safe. One block down on Grand and 5th there is also a USC run tram that will go to the Alumni House at USC. Yep, so we have a tram stop one block away! That was a huge perk. The first tram runs at 8am in the fall so I can’t use it to get to my 8am class, but I can use it all other days… other than that you could take a metro bus or probably even a subway right to the campus… Jessie in the leasing office said there was one that goes directly to the campus but I haven’t researched that yet.

As for driving to and from SC. It’s LA, so time is sort of… moot… there will be good and bad days
The apartment, however, is real close to the 110 (two lights down on 3rd) and I believe the Exposition exit (the one I normally get off to go to SC) is only 4 or 5 exits down the 110S. On a good day it should take no longer than 5 to 10 mins… I’m sure I’ll also find some good surface streets to head down as time goes on as well, Metro417 is only 3 miles from campus.

So yes… I love the place… I think it was the best move I could have made and I’m really really happy with the apartment. I just moved from a much more spacious apartment on the west side, but I wouldn’t even consider going back… I love it here. If your son moves in, have him get in touch with me… There are quite a few SC students in the building I’ve already met :)

Dang puppy you’ve got me jealous. Are you living in a studio or…?

And if you dont mind, what’s your monthly rent?

i might live in city park if i don’t get oncampus housing, any thoughts on that complex?

THANKS SO MUCH mrpuppy!!! WOW…great info! Anxious for son to see what you had to say. He’s a bit concerned about not being right next to campus and the convenience and social life that offers…but used to being independent and on his own down in San Diego county…so looking for a decent studio on his budget has been a challenge. He’s also coming from a larger space so 350 sq ft seems uber tiny. But hey…sounds like alot of other perks to make up for loss of space!! Will have him get in touch if it works out!! We both feel like we know you all!

It’s a 435sqft studio. It sounded scary, but once I saw the place I was blown away with how well they used the space. It doesn’t feel cramped at all, and my other apartment was 650sqft. I figured I’d be screwed… but… nope… really smart design on this apartment. Plus… I have this long hall that goes down to my washer/dryer and bathroom, so it really gives the impression that the place is larger than it is. Also, the partition in the bedroom makes it feel less like a studio… Here’s my floor plan <a href=“Metro 417 | Metro 417 - Downtown LA Apartments | Brookfield Properties”>Metro 417 | Metro 417 - Downtown LA Apartments | Brookfield Properties;

Anyway… rent… is pricey, I won’t lie… I pay $1430 a month… but I could have gotten it a bit cheaper if I didn’t have a dog. Dogs are allowed on floors 3/7/11/12 and obviously higher floors cost more than the lower ones. Everything on 3 and 7 was full when I was looking, so I got put on 11
I love the view, even if it is costing me a bit more a month. I figure I’ll fly solo for a while, but I may look to move into a two bedroom and bring in a roommate after the fall semester… we’ll see how it goes.

Oh and technics… nice to see you got your facebook setup
Now to get the rest of the stragglers to do so as well.

wow, that place looks amazing. Can’t afford 1430 a month though :(

1430 a month almost made me have a heart attack though! alwell good times.

LOL yeah i thought the layout and design on my facebook was quite nice hahaha.
i’ll get around to it sooner or later.

but yeah sex and hobo… www.facebook.com

get it done!
