GOT MY HOUSING!! im in honors house.

hi, I am a prospective transfer applicant to USC. Do you guys think a GPA of 3.85 is competitive enough to get me into USC and get a scholarship…I cant really elaborate…but keep in mind that I am heavily involved with activities on campus (officer in 3 clubs) and will have extra stuff to write about apart from academics…
But I am not sure if 3.85 would be enough for USC

Hey I’m applying to USC as a sophomore. right now i have a 4.0 in my first quarter at UCI, but I came from HS w/ a 3.2 GPA (albeit with 11 APs
), a 2170 SAT I, and 800/730/630 Math II/US Hist/Bio. I’m in a lab right now, and I held leadership positions in my HS Debate team and Academic Superbowl. What would you guys say my chances are?

Hey vonska, even I got into oncampus housing… i will be living in Annenberg House… do you have any idea how it is…?..

thanks.

vonska, I was wondering that this decision usc made to us for not offering admission in fall 2006 (our intended class standing) instead offering in spring 2007 really ****ed my life up man!!.. what about you…? didn’t you find it tough studying this sem.?

ya im glad housing’s arranged. no way ill move back to my parents’ home.

i totally know 100% wat u mean bro. every now and then someone, either at work or at some social event, would ask me what i was doing and where i was going to school and i would always try to stray away from the question. it was embarrasing and f-ucking irritating. At one point, around November, i began to strongly regret ever taking up the spring admission. i was wishing i just went right back to ucr and transferred elsewhere. im still very angry with usc, im not gonna lie. i dont think this 6 month gap in my undergraduate studies is gonna look very hot on my transcripts for grad school.

anyway what’s done is done, and i think we should just move on and look forward to the good times ahead.

omg. So I have to ask again.

Whats the lowest GPA a transfer can generally have to get into USC?

See… fall 06 was my first semester in college. I was expecting a high gpa but as I spent all nighters studying for finals I began slowly decaying.

I’ve listed before my fall 06 gpa to be about 3.6 or so…and then getting that gpa higher in spring 07…

but suddenly 2 professors of mine became d*cks and changed my grades, even after I did extra credit work.

I haven’t received all of my grades yet but it’s not a 3.7 for sure…

anthro: A
English: A
History: C
French: C
Math: B

As you can see, a 3.0. Honestly i’m sad now… depending on what my true fall gpa will be (ill find out in 2 weeks), will determine if I still have a shot at USC. I know those C’s dont look too good but would that matter even i’f I managed to get my gpa up to a 3.5 or 3.6?

DGETAJNRYJSRKRXFY&KJE%I!!!

guys, do you think paying USC tuition fees at 32000 USDs (approx.) all worth it at the end of the day… ??

imran - if you keep near a 4.0 and complete all the classes you need to for your major in order to transfer, i think you should have a good shot.

thanks a lot IIIII - did you trasnfer to USC? is the transition pretty easy?

no im a applicant. i guess that doesnt give me as much credibility. i know there was one guy who had like a 3.7 from uci and still got rejected but he didnt have all the transfer requirements done yet. im just assuming that if the average transfer gpa is a 3.56 (considering most of them are CC) and your coming from UCI with a 4.0, then as long as you have all the transfer requirements done, i dont see any reason for them not to take you. the only thing i see holding you back is your highschool GPA, but i definately think your other attributes outweigh that. ohyeah and i think having an equivalent of 30 credits at least by the time you would be transferring is important too.

I don’t know the exact number, but I think if you have more than 30 units completed they don’t base their decisions based on your HS record and test scores. I’m transferring with 60 units completed (2 years) and that’s what they told me when I called the admissions office.

Keep up that 4.0 or at least a 3.9, the higher GPA the better (obviously). However, one thing the lady did stress was to have all the requirements completed prior to transferring, that will increase your chances A LOT more, since they can see you can graduate in time.

i have 65 quarter units as of the end of first quarter, so im guessing that’ll translate to over 30 by the end of the year. but thanks a lot guys

I don’t really know how they base the credit transfer on quarter units, since they go by semesters. You don’t lose anything by calling them though. Good luck

Hey everyone here, i was wondering if you all completed the core requirements when applying…cuz Im sure most of you guys are also applying to the UCs and they have different requirements.

if im correct, you find how many units you have towards usc by dividing your total units by 1.5 (if your school is on quarter based)

So I have to ask again…

here is my (so far) fall 2006 grades, which is my first semester in community college.

Anthro 100: A
English 100: A
History 241: C
French 101: C
Math: ? Perhaps B?

As you can see. This would bring my gpa to a 3.0

Should i even apply still? Obviously i will work hard in the spring semester to bring my overall gpa up. If i was to get all A’s in the spring it would bring my entire gpa to like a 3.5

Should i even bother applying? i get the feeling im border line.

When i first joined this post months ago i felt i would kick ass and get a 4.0 or 3.8 in my fall 06 semester. obviously that wasnt the case so i have to adjust and keep building accordingly. It is a big dream of mine to get into USC.

Please, advice, tips and honest words. Thanks.

cough anything to rise my chances? like great letters or req?
end cough
