Hey guys… I am applying to USC, but at this point It is coming down to the wire. Does the App have to be postmarked by Feb. 1st or in their possession by the 1st? I’m doing it online but there are some supplemental forms that must be sent in the mail. If its the latter I am screwed… This one snuck up on me, I forgot USC does transfer apps earlier then everyone else.

With that said… chances

Applying to: Marshall - Management

HS - 3.5 weighted GPA, 1180 SAT
Question 2: So apparently 30+ credits your not required to send SATs scores… should I or shouldn’t I?

Question 3: If I do get in, is there any chance I get any money (merit)? I’m eligible and aplying for FinAid.

TheProfessor: I believe that the main application materials are to be due by February 1st. There is a chance though that they will still review the application if it is postmarked by the date. I’m not sure though.

With that said, “Applicants must complete an online supplemental application by March, 1 2007” Please visit <a href=“Home - USC Marshall”>www.marshall.usc.edu/undergraduatetransfer

If only you could hand it in directly, but given the circumstances.

Regarding SAT scores: If you guys think that your scores will benefit you for your application by all means send them. If not - then. :)

App materials need to be POSTMARKED by Feb 1st. Call them and ask. They’ll tell you. I even asked, “what if its postmarked by feb 1st but you guys receive it on the 3rd is it late?” Lady said, “No.”

london says: my high school GPA is about a 3.55, not very good and neither are my SATs are up to USC’s standards, but I confirmed with the admissions officers and said that I have 30 units by the end of this spring my HS GPA/SAT will not decide my admission to the university.

By the way how important are the essays and short answers if you have a good GPA?

Does USC process things really slowly? I sent in my hs and college transcript 2 weeks ago they still haven’t received it. Does anyone have the same problem?

major: psychology
GPA: 3.46
units: 56 units will have completed by this spring
Still some required classes are in progress, such as one transferable English class and the last required class for my major. Any chances??

When it comes to GPA, does USC calculate GPA based only on courses that are transferable or will they determine GPA based on the entire course load (including courses that might not be transferable) that one completes during their work at college before transferring? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

im pretty sure its only the units that will transfer. You can try to prove that a non-transferable course is equivalent to something at USC. It shouldnt really matter if your’e coming from a CCC though.

For the applicants who have taken remedial courses in a class, remember that the old grade still counts. Unlike the UC System, academic grade renewal doesn’t apply. Our fellow trojans still take both grades into account. bastards! :)

3.5 GPA first semester GPA
sophomore
30 units at the end of the spring semester
Major: sociology
All GEs, pre-reqs, english and math requirements in progress or completed

About the HS credit thing, how far back do they look if you don’t have 30 credits? Or will they look at your entire HS career regardless of how close or far you are to 30 credits? Thanks

Well for transfers, of course college activity is preferred. But I don’t think they’ll make a big deal if you included your high school activities.

BH07: 3.5-3.7 (According to my counselor) is a “Competitive” GPA
3.2-3.3 Slightly Competitive
3.0 ~ Relies on submitted essays

3.5 is pretty good. If you did well on your SAT/ACT/SAT II you should be in good shape. Grades aside, if you HS record includes some type of athletics, school clubs, etc., then I don’t see why you wouldn’t have a fair chance.

Now in college - my counselor hasn’t seen anyone with a 3.4 NOT get in. But this is info is deceiving, a lot of people have higher GPA’s than that and they get turned down - Even in this forum :(

I guess we have to remember that we’re competing with 3.7-4.0 students ( + extra curric.) as well. I think you’ll be alright for your major though. Keep up the good grades! Rec Letters help too … Do you have one already from a sociology teacher? What’s your second choice?

California-Bolt: I think they’ll focus on your last couple of years in High School, Freshman year is pretty transitional, Sophomore (well…lol), Junior Year - probably the most important. If the grades were lacking, make damn sure that those essays were spectacular. It kinda sucks if you spend weeks making draft after draft, only to find out that some people in an office are looking at the essays for 2 minutes. Oh yea, SATs
