USC transfers.

Hey Guys!!

I remember this thread from applying last year. I think it was back on page 100 or so…lol… I am glad to see that it is still going strong. Congrats you guys that have heard…for those who haven’t, especially goldenjet (lol)…keep your fingers crossed!!

got my spring grade request finally… lol

hey why aren’t i on that list??

i just sent in my spring grades, and I was wondering how long it takes to receive a decision. I know it says mid july but Ive heard people say that they got a response in 1-2 weeks.

Biggyboy - my bad whats your whole situation? acceptance? SP grades?

Awin - haha thanks. I still havent recieved ****, god dammit :P

mo_reezy. My son has had a similar situation. Did you address this at all in the application? That is the best approach. Explain without going into too much detail that you had some personal issues and that this prevented you from completing the college semester. So you decided to take some time to resolve these issues, and to be sure of what you wanted to do in life. In the meantime, you worked part time, and more recently went back to school where you have successfully completed 39 credits. I think that the fact that you have overcome adversity is a plus, and that many colleges will see it that way. Of course every school is different and if USC does not see it that way, there are many other fine schools that will.
I’m involved with the alumni association of my college (Large East coast private), and recently had the opportunity to speak with the Director of Admissions about this issue. She said that it is most important to be honest and up front. She said it is the person that does not admit to their problems that is of the most concern. They want to hear about these things and to see that you have successfully overcome or improved on those issues.

I just switched my major recently from sociology (accepted) to communications, and i got a call today asking for spring request BOO!!! but im still accepted as a soc major, although thats kinda like saying i was never accepted there in the first place because i dont wanna do sociology.

I’ve been so scared to go on this forum. I think it has been about 4 months?! Good luck to all of you who are still waiting on that spring request!

i got spring request too, i know of so many ppl who got spring requests and their GPA’s are like 3.0 and 3.2’s *** is up with, i dont think anyone gets rejected off the bat. makes me worry if usc is going to pull some random **** on those with GPA’s above 3.6 or even 3.8

lol applied to marshall. just received a spring grade request. most likely a denial though. gpa this semester will most likely be low. might go to stern.

Imo, Nyu>usc

I also think EVERYONE gets a Spring request. Unless they know for a fact that a 4.0 in spring semester would not change their mind on the decision.

mynameisashton -
sorry i meant to say i didn’t do so good… i hardly focused on any of my school work going back and forth from berkeley to la

does anybody know if prerequisites completed during the summer still count?

It will count for transferable units, but it will not be a factor in them making an admission decision.

i still have to take the college writing requirement will they reject me if they see that i havent completed it already? or will it make a difference if it is in progress for summer? (june 18-july23) i wasn’t able to get into the class for the spring (and during the fall i obviously did not know i was going to need to transfer)

Call and find out, but I doubt it.

Got my spring request today.
CCC: 1st quarter 4.0 (21 units)
2nd quarter 3.96 (cumulative with 38 total units)
3rd quarter in session.
Sophomore transfer; applied for open major (undecided).

My quarter doesn’t end till June 29th so I don’t expect to hear a decision until mid July.

Make sure to get a Early Grade Report form which you can get from the college’s records office. Have your prof sign it and put your grade. That way you can send it in right away.

Transcripts usually take 2 weeks after the end of the term for them to be available. If you do that, you won’t get your letter until August! Probably lose your chance at housing…

Does anyone think Philosophy would give you a better chance of getting in versus Communications?

Probably since comm is impacted.

thanks doryx
