USC transfers.

July 4th, Go to that summer session. It’ll give you a much better understanding about Temple. I was just relaying what I’ve heard about the school. There are people who enjoy it there.

KingJames- Wade is better, LOL!

Give UConn a chance. My Ex goes there and she LOVES it- there is a good chance you will too.

being Jewish wont hurt you at all dude. Basically all of the buildings at USC are named after Jewish people!

See, I know I WILL love UConn…there’s absolutely no doubt in my mind. I have alot of really good friends already up there, and the facilities are more state-of-the-art than ANY college i’ve seen in person or online…BUT, it’s not USC. I’m worried about UConn’s name recognition, especially on the west coast. It’s depressing to see that none of these top firms recruit at UConn…none. Although our business facility is ranked #10 in the naition, the business school itself hasn’t even cracked the top 50…which SUCKS. My major, economics, is ranked 186th in the world! That blows! I’d love to live in Cali when I grow up, so USC seems like the perfect opportunity. Not only can Marshall or Leventhal get you a job anywhere in the US, but I bet the network is very well represented in LA, SD, and the bay area.

And the fact that USC’s excellent financial aid will make the price only $1000-$2000 more than UConn, makes me want to go to USC even more.

I think another plus about UConn is that there is no grade deflation, meaning that I CAN graduate with a high GPA…as opposed to USC marshall or leventhal. I just hate how it’s looked down on by businesses and such.

Update

I got an extenstion on my tuition due date at Temple, it is now due June 30th…So I’ve bought myself a little time. But, I’m still quite frustrated that people who turned in their grades in mid-June have already gotten word. Also, it seems as if no one is getting rejected. All I hear on this thread is ‘I’m in, I’m in.’ Are there any rejects out there? Please post.

kingjames, You and I are ahead of the curve because of our time zones! What are your back up schools for next year (or is it USC or bust)?

TO EVERYONE, have ya’ll been calling the Admissions office (and how regulary)? or have ya’ll just been waiting patiently by the mailbox?

July4, ahead of the curve meaning an advantage in the admission process?

For me I think it’s USC or bust, because like I said, I really think I’ll love UConn.

if I don’t get in this year, during sophomore year I plan on considering applying to:

-USC again (100% sure I’ll apply)
-Vanderbilt (100% sure I’ll apply)
-Rice
-UNC
-Any other school that covers almost 100% of financial need, is in the top 30 on USNews, and isn’t TOO much of a bit-ch to fill out the application.

I obviously won’t apply to all those, but those are the ones I’ll strongly consider applying to.

No, just awake earlier!

Rice is a great choice, on the par of USC. The campus is swell too. Also it is in the BEST part of Houston (4th Biggest in the nation). Tons to do. Although, I should mention Rice is known for having smart girls, not pretty ones…Can you say FUGLY.

Kingjames, Why do you read USNEWS? Its trash.

Yeah, I’ve heard that too about Rice. Supposedly a nerdy student body? Ouch, I can’t see myself fitting in there.

Haha, and I read USNews because it seems to be what everyone else follows. What employers read is what matters, whether or not USNews is accurate or not…lol. you’re also gonna be a freshman next year?

Nope, I have got 61 credits. I am a junior.

But, USNews really is trash. Their rankings are baseless. Even if you go to a top ranked school you’ll still come out making 30K-60K (which is not even livable after taxes). You MUST go to B-School, L-School, Grad School, or Med School if you ever want to make real money.

But yeah, Rice is a great school. Beautiful campus, beautiful part of town, smart students, etc. But, you’ll be hard pressed to find some attractive tail. Rice chicks look like they grew up on the prairie.

“What employers read is what matters?” C’mon kid!!! Don’t you have any ambition. I don’t know about you, but I plan on being an employer. Employees only serve to enrich their employers. They get the shaft, they eat out of the the hands of their employer…to be an employer = you call the shots.

F*** USNews, they make b******

I hear Emory is the same

Where is Emory?

Is it alright if I just call you James? I don’t know about this royalty stuff…

Do you think I should send flowers to USC’s Director of Admissions? Or is that over the top?

lol, KingJames is the nickname for Cleveland Cavaliers NBA superstar LeBron James. But yeah, I don’t care what people call me lol.

Emory is in Atlanta. Ranked #20.

My apologies, I come from a part of Texas where basketball isn’t done.

So what about the flowers? Chocolates too? Should I?

FOR THE RECORD: If they don’t have Burger King and/or Taco Cabana (or similar culinary institutions of the same calibur) in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area, I will be formally withdrawing my application.

Haha, I don’t think they would be too happy about a bribe, but USC is one of those schools where you really don’t know. Dirty deals seem to sometimes go down. ;-)

I posted this in the USC forum, but does anyone know the answer to this Q?

Can you take WRIT-130 as a sophomore? Lets say you transfer into USC but your freshman english class doesn’t fulfill the requirement. Does the specific english class you take affect your chances of admission? Or do they just accept you assuming it will fulfill WRIT-130, and then you find out later whether or not it will?

To answer everyone’s questions:
I went to a competitive catholic high school and graduated with around 3.3 gpa and my SAT scores were average but not up to USC standards. I am transferring to USC as a sophmore as Psychology major. I completed my first year of college at Pierce Junior College, and completed 35 units. My counselor didn’t tell me I received the packet in the mail, but it only took 4 days from when I delivered the packet in the admissions office.

LOL july4, for your information, there is a BK across Jefferson next to the UV. As for taco cabana, I dont think I’ve ever seen one in LA County period!

blasted! no Texan can expect to survive for very long without the Cabana…Cocaine is to a fiend as Taco Cabana is to a native texan.

In other news, lex, I am so happy for you, but at the same time I am so frustrated. I submitted grades via U.S. Mail on 25 May and via Fax on 1 June…I called today, no decision
