Uses for Everything Bagel seasoning?

Going through Costco the other day I sampled canned chicken seasoned only with mayo and everything bagel seasoning. Surprisingly it was really good, and I’m wondering what other foods would be enhanced with it?

Costco also carries panko-crusted cod with a little cheese and the everything bagel seasoning added to the crust. It’s delicious!

I use it to make a bagelless version of an everything bagel with lox. Although I love bagels, I’m trying to reduce the amount of refined flour I eat, so tend to either skip the bread or use a very thinly sliced bread that has more whole grain content. So to get the flavor without the bagel, I take a thin slice of rye or Ezekiel type bread, spread some whipped cream cheese and top it with that Everything but the bagel seasoning and sliced gravlax.

I make avocado toast with an egg and use the seasoning on that. Adds a lot of flavor!

I put over easy eggs on a bed of baby spinach and sprinkle it with the seasoning. Delicious breakfast salad!

I have made myself similar mixes - it’s great over any boring steamed vegetable.

The Everything Bagel seasoning at Costco is large but SO inexpensive if you use it often (much larger container than TJ’s).

So many good uses! Leave it on your counter by the salt and pepper and I think you’ll find you reach for it often - it’s often a good pairing with things you would use salt and pepper for anyway!

Examples:
Definitely avocado toast. Mash or slice some avocado and use the seasoning and it will have tons of flavor

Sprinkle in soups

A couple of grinds over grilled meat (steak, chicken)

On top of cream cheese or butter on a plain/egg/cheese bagel

Couple of grinds on a BLT.

Scrambled eggs

I also just like the texture it gives over basic salt and pepper.

At work and just used some on Panera broccoli cheddar soup!

I use it on all kinds of things! Avo toast, soups, salads, popcorn…wonderful stuff!

I usually get mine at TJs. Anyone know if they carry it at BJs? I don’t have a Cosco membership.

Amazon has it. Or you could just make your own. https://itdoesnttastelikechicken.com/everything-bagel-seasoning/

My favorite is sprinkled on steamed edamame. A very tasty, low fat, high protein snack.

Great, these are just the ideas I was looking for!

TIL that I need to look for Everything Bagel seasoning next time I go to the store.

I have seen it at Trader Joe’s but Aldi’s now also has a version of it. It’s sounds good on avocado toast. It is probably something I would keep in my drawer to put on anything that is bland. I would probably add it to soups.

@taverngirl - the first place I saw it, years ago, was at the Kind Arthur Flour shop in Vermont. So you could get it online there.

I’ve seen it since at Costco, Trader Joe’s, and also my local grocery store.

While you’re looking for that, get some Tajin! It’s a blend from Mexico of chiles, salt, and lime zest. It is so bright and beautiful! Usually it’s not with the spices, but by the pepper sauces or in the taco aisle.

^ Second that! I love Tajin and sprinkle it on almost everything!

@greenwitch Thanks! I will definitely look for that!

I roll some smoked salmon with cream cheese and the everything but the bagel seasoning. Great high protein, no carb meal!

I have to confess that when I was dieting, I would just eat a small spoonful of everything bagel seasoning to tide me over during a craving for something salty and delicious. It helped!
