You mean off to the side, the little green box that says complete changed to “in review”? I had no idea it did that.

not the green box … when I click on the “admission” tap, the wording changed …in short, it says your file is in review

There’s not really a set amount of time. This usually varies by major (quite a few people have received decisions already). With that being said, if you are transferring as a freshman, you will not see a decision until a transcript with thirty hours is sent to UT. This usually means spring grades. The best I can say is hang in there. I know the waiting game can be quite unbearable. I wish you well and please let us know if you have any additional questions.

really!!! i dont think its a definitive “you must finish calculus first”…?

Last semester this guy in my Calc 1 class got accepted into electrical engineering at cockrell

this was before the semester was even over.

if anyone gets into cockrell please post up

how far in math you are

gpa
3.major
4.time of acceptance

thanks =D

@cm1251, it says we have all the documents we need to process your application … I don’t have 30 hours yet, but I’m hoping to get the decision before spring is over … as far as math goes, I’m done with with Cal 1 and 2

I think it is safe to say that you can expect to hear your answer after UT receives your spring transcript showing at least 30 hours of transferable credit. I am also transferring after one year of undergrad however, I sent an updated transcript showing my AP credits and that allowed me to meet the 30 hour requirement before completion of my spring semester. This update took quite a while for my school to process, so UT received my transcript showing 46 hours (16 from actual classes and 30 from AP) on March 30th, well after the March 1st deadline. Despite this (and much to my relief), my decision was not delayed and I received my acceptance on April 8th for CNS mathematics. Please try not to worry too much about this, just do well in your spring courses. I know it can be difficult receiving a decision after April, because this will determine a lot of what you need to do ie course selection, housing, financial aid, and that sort of thing. Again, best of luck to you, ProfMe.

If you would like to know more details:

Well, in that case, mine has been that way for a long while now (like over a month).

I would like to add that for a while MyStatus said I had a complete application, a few days afterward, this was changed to say that it was complete except for a transcript showing 30 hours of transferable credit (I wish I had saved a screen shot of this). Check periodically to see if this new status appears, it means they are waiting for you to complete your spring semester before giving an admissions decision.

This is why I felt the need to claim my AP credits and update my transcript. With this addition, I had the 30 hours necessary and was one of the first to hear back from CNS. I know this is terribly inconvenient but do hang in there. Let me know if you have any more questions.

I was wrong, the class can be in progress. But like you said, its best to have it complete.

@cm1251, thank you bro! you’re totally right about the things I need to sort out after receiving the decision…

@letsgoletsgo1, my status was “complete” for a while, but it didn’t say anything about current reviewing for admission … Now, however, it explicitly says that my file is in review … is this the case with you as well, and are you applying for engineering too?

It says “Your application for admission is in review,” and it has said the same thing for at least a month. Yes, I’m also applying to Cockrell!

Okay, I know ProfMe doesn’t have 30 hours complete yet, pending his spring semester. Letsgoletsgo1, how many hours do you have? Also, has no one also had a status change to “Complete except for a transcript showing 30 hours of transferable credit”?

I have over 50 hours.

@cm1251

I had the same thing happen to me.

Ah, okay so it is a thing. Well, I think that’s the last step before an admissions decision is given. I think if ProfMe gets that change it means they have actually reviewed his application but can’t officially accept or deny him.

Hey ProfMe, Are u an international? could u share your stats with us?

should i send a new transcript electronically?

the new transcript will show what classes i signed up for in the summer…
but since spring isnt over obviously nothing else really changed

i already have over 30 credits transferrable

What would you send an updated transcript for now?

As for the engineering math requirement:
UT teaches calculus in two semesters. M408C is semester one (differential/integral) and M408D second semester (multivariable). Some other schools teach it in three as Cal1 (differential) Cal2 (integral) and then multivariable the third semester. So the two semesters of Cal1 and Cal2 would equate to the one semester of M408C.
The engineering prerequisite is that you must be prepared to enroll in courses beyond M408C. So you have to either have Cal1 and 2 completed or in progress to be completed by the time you enroll.

I am currently enrolled in Cal2 and asked my admissions counselor about how it might affect my admission decision and he told me, in short, not to worry about it. So it seems, especially if you know someone admitted without meeting this requirement, that it is not such a hard and fast rule.

i was under the impression that cal at UT was taught differently than how you described…

like cal 1 is differential and some of integral
and cal 2 finishes integral and includes multvariable

??

yeah its right here

http://www.ma.utexas.edu/academics/courses/syllabi/M408C.php

if you look it doesnt completely cover all of integral and series and stuff

then…

http://www.ma.utexas.edu/academics/courses/syllabi/M408D.php

finishes integrals and series, then introduces multivariable

so if you take cal 1 and cal 2 at a college that teaches it in 3 semesters
you’ll be ahead of the curve when you take cal 2 at UT because some of that stuff you will have seen already…or you should just try and finish cal 3 at your current college

Yes, it’s best to finish up your math and science sequences up at one college. That’s recommended somewhere on the website, but I’m not sure where.
