UT Austin 2011/12 Transfer Guide

Hello maybe I’m the first Fall 2013 Mccomb applicant in this thread. I know you guys are worrying about admission but can anyone tell me more about types of scholarship of either inside or outside UT Austin when I transfer? I’ve read all the post and find it very helpful. FYI, I’m from Vietnam.

I’d like to wish everyone good luck during this week of finals and for your admission decisions. sigh We just have to keep waiting a bit longer…

“A man who is a master of patience is master of everything.”

Has anyone called them today to ask about decisions? If all of them were sent out last week? If certain colleges within UT haven’t made their decision yet? etc. Thanks in advance.

im still waiting bme 1st choice

biology 2nd

anyone here accepted for biomedical engineering yet?

you should probably stop calling them if you have already done so at least once or twice…because the people who are answering the phones really honestly don’t know anything more than you do about your decision.

I wrote an email, and I got denied a few hours later…

@ manquants

Can you please post wheat the denial statement says? I didnt think that they had already started to deny.

@Bioscience

They have denied people already, someone earlier in the thread said he got denied and he is trying to appeal right now.

Ok. I know I’ve seen ppl get denied for their first major and the accepted for their second but I wasn’t sure about getting denied straight out? My status is “still in review” so I guess I’m still in contention?

Ya, I was thinking the same thing. Since they haven’t accepted me for my second major or rejected me yet, I guess I am in the run for my first major.

my friend in class with a 3.2 got denied for COLA but with that gpa it’s not too surprising

he’s looking into other colleges now.

I suppose those of us that have not yet gotten a decision about our first choice means that we are still in the running for that major…?

I’d hate to wait this whole time…just to be accepted into my 2nd choice(biology) instead of BME

What are your stats if you dont mind me askin?

My stats are:
GPA 3.63
Two STRONG letters of recommendation.
My essays were ok but I wrote them on the spot so I know they are not great.
After this semester I should have close to a 3.7 GPA.
I am a honors student and listed many extracurricular activities and functions.
I have an AS in computer science and next week I should graduate with an AS in biological sciences. I will be graduating as an honors student
I also have assisted doctoral candidates with research for their dissertations and was recently published in dissertation defense!
60+ hrs transfer credits.

GPA: 3.8
Credits: 32
No Letter Of Recommendation
Only wrote the two required essay

I feel like I am at a disadvantage because of no letter of recommendation and I didn’t write the optional essay. If I could go back I would have gotten a letter of recommendation or maybe two.

@BioscienceMajor

Have you finished all the indicator courses?

@bobbyn212

Don’t trip. I didn’t have recommendations and I did the minimum 2 essays as well, and my GPA isn’t nearly as impressive as yours. One of my friends just got accepted into BME with a 3.76 or something like that and he didn’t have recommendations either. And his essays were garbage lol.

Exactly. This situation is all about “Calculus pre-requisites”. The admission officers are juuuuuust waiting to exclude “pre-acceptance” applicants who make D’s or F’s on their final transcripts. Some people are still waiting although they have better GPA more than I do. Even BME, 3.76 GPA could be accepted, right? The whole thing doesn’t add up for me if the admission office rejects the appllicant who has similar GPA.

I’m sorry to hear that…

You still can try to appeal if you really want to go to UT Austin. There is always room for negotiations.

@ goodjoblyn

I’m unfamiliar with the term indicator courses but if it refers to “pre-requisites” then yes I have completed them! When I talked to admissions they told me that the bulk/majority of decisions towards the end of May. Everything they have told me has been correct to this date so I’d expect to see some decisions over the next three streets!

It seems that the decision date keep getting pushed back, I remember when it was mid-April, then end of April, then May 1, then end of the first week of May, and now the end of May.

Hi everyone. I’m an international transfer applicant. My application status is still “complete”. It seems like many people have got accepted and for those who haven’t their application statuses have been changed to “in review”. I’m worried about this. Is there anyone else has his/her status same as mine? Should I contact the admissions office asking them is there anything wrong?
