UT Austin 2011/12 Transfer Guide

@bobbyn scratch that it’s working now

Hey guys! Just got back from golfing…

Eeerrrrrrrrrr…

ACCEPTED

College of Natural Sciences - Computer Science
30 Hours in Residence from Texas A&M Engineering - GPA 3.92
16 hours of AP credit and some dual credit which brought my overall transfer GPA down to around 3.7
Decent ECs, essays, etc.
1 Letter of Rec

Note:
I had originally applied first choice to engineering, second choice to computer science but recently changed my first and second choice majors as I decided the CS program and its curriculum better suits my interests and abilities.
I was accepted monday, but because of that change the timing of my decision is probably not indicative of anything in relation to others still awaiting news.

Good luck to everyone still waiting and congratulations to all others! Looking forward to the fall!

Yeahhhh, I finally found a summer apartment around UT Campus! Is there anything I have to do/eat/see when arriving at Austin!? Getting excited !!

Congrats!
May I ask how you changed your major?

So it looks like I missed an A in calc2 by 1.5 points… My GPA will be 3.446 with 34 credits as I send in my transcript. I’ll need a lot of luck to have a shot at getting in!

@NOCHICKY,

I sent a faxed request with my signature listing my new first and second choice major. It was sent last monday, processed by thursday, and I had my decision by this past (the following) monday

Thanks.
I am happy for you. It was worth the waiting.

@Locness: Hahaha i know right! But i guess in this situation im kinda glad the gpa requirement isnt soo high.

Does anyone know if you can change your major from the first one you applied for on your application? I wanted to change mine from kinesiology applied movement to health promotion.

I haven’t paid the $50 deposit for dorms yet (basically because I didn’t fully realize that it determined your priority in dorm choice). I haven’t been accepted yet (still waiting for a CLEP credit to show up on my transcript so I can send it in), so at this point should I just wait until I get accepted to pay the deposit or should I go ahead and pay it?

So yep…grades came out today. My gpa went from a 3.81 to a 3.79
damn biology professor sucked so bad I can’t believe I even made a B in that class.
otherwise all A’s =D

warning…troy bruce(or bruce troy, the guy has a name that is basically 2 first names)
is kind of a mediocre professor at ACC, not the best but not the worst. He has great ratings online though…

I usually find that the best professors are the ones with PhD

I sent my transcript electronically. It should be at UT within the next 24 hours.
Hopefully a decision happens soon. I want to pay everything and sign up for orientation asap

Out of curiosity, how many here are doing internal transfer? I’ll be doing internal for RTF

I plan to internal transfer into cockrell.

Could you guys chance me for Spring? I’m from M

im also planning to do an internal transfer to cockrell which is hard as hell but i’m still gonna try

hey xig, what major do u plan on transferring to and how do u plan on doing it? i got into cola undeclared which is like totally unrelated to what i wanna do and i chose it just to get into the school. so i was wondering if the advisors could allow me to enroll in intro level petro engr major courses (my desired major) during orientation. but despite that, i’ll still have to make 3.5+ with 24 hours in residence in order to have a good chance to actually become a petroleum engineering major. the higher the gpa the better your chances. heck i’ve even planned out a course load for fall and spring '13 lol.

all i can say is best of luck

Holy crap Rall, your making me feel undetermined LOL. I kinda forced myself to stop thinking about IntTransferring for the time being, for fear of doing something drastic i.e staying at community college another year. But yeah Aerospace Engineering is my goal. Haven’t we had this conversation before?? Remember Internal Transferring is hugely based on availability. Try to be the first to apply as I will do the same :)

I got into CNS Astronomy by the way. I may double major or minor in it. I haven’t done much research on this particular matter yet. Good luck to you! We may need just a little :p

@ramo

are you international student?
For a domestic student with those stats I could with almost 100% certainty that you’d get in.
but…I think someone with a 3.9gpa and very good stats didn’t get into mccombs recently
I do know international students with lesser stats got accepted before…
So idk what exactly the criteria is for international acceptance

@Locness
Thank you for answering!!
Yes I’m an international student (applying for transfer), as I said, I currently live in Mexico and would love to attend UT Austin, does that matter? (also I’m not applying to mccombs, I’m going for engineering.)

Also I saw this at their website, what does this mean??
Summer/Fall Admission: Entering engineeringstudents must begin their studies in a summer or a fall semester. Engineering majors are not available to students applying for admissiontoa spring semester.(This restriction is pending final administrative approval.)

It is the pending final approval part that I’m talking about, I can still apply to engineering transfer in spring right?

Also, is it any better to apply ASAP? What do you think my chances are? Can I get rejected for some reason?

Thank you

I’ll post next week if anything changes with my application. Thanks to everyone who has been supportive! I still have my fingers crossed but they’re starting to cramp!!! Haha…
