UT austin 2017/2018 Transfer Thread

So I called them about international applications, they said most of the decisions should get posted today but some of them on Monday and Tuesday. Good Luck

International transfer
Denied CS (1st choice) + math (2nd choice)
Stat: 4.0 50 tranferable credits (4.0 and 65 after spring semester) 2 lor ;good ER+resume; work experience
finished cal 1 2 3, physic 1 2 (with lab), biol 1 (with lab), engl 1 2, etc
I guess because of my essays?
Fun fact: 47,000 transfer applications, no email, just check myStatus.

Oh and those classes were from a US college.

47,000 transfer apps??? What on Earth?

"selecting for admission a limited number of students from a pool of more than 47,000 extremely qualified applicants. "

kill me

Wow we’re screwed lol

@Abcdxyzt No way there’s that many people who applied for transfer.

Any clue where we can find how many applied last year?

@jumpo69 Yes, I’m looking right now. Usually its around 8,000 people who apply to transfer.

@jumpo69 found it https://utexas.app.box.com/v/SHB17-18Complete

Maybe that’s combined with Freshman applications? Like Harvard this year had a new record of 42,000 applications…

UT has mor applications than Harvard?

@Thompson2688 @Abcdxyzt that number probably includes freshman and transfer applicants. UT received 48,000 applications in total last year and accepted about 20,000 of them.

@imgettingpsyched That’s what I thought, but just the way it was worded nearly gave me a heart attack.

Got denied.
4.0 with 49 credits. Cal 1 2 3 Phys 1 2 included lab, international.
CS major.

@turboC dang I’m sorry to hear about that

Sorry to hear about that guys. Impressive resumes, their loss.

Best of luck to all the international applicants hearing back within the next couple of days, you’ve outlived the wait!

What are they expecting from CS majors? 5.0. It’s crazy a 4.0 didn’t get your acceptance. Is it harder for transfer students to get admitted or is that just the difficulty of getting into CS?

International students unfortunately recieve a very small percentage of transfer spots, making it hyper competitive.
