@rtfhopeful whats the theory
@adrian3243 Iāve heard gov isnāt as competitive as other majors like psychology.
@rtfhopeful The information was straight from an admissions officer. Iād still like to hear your theory though.
So from what i understand (information coming from the admissions center) each major/college has a certain amount of external transfers that they allow in. For example, Moody college reserves 100 slots exclusively for external transfers. I believe that they receive all the applications, sort and review them, then they place us on a list for our respective colleges/majors. The list is kind of like an order of merit list. The top 10% are probably the ones who already got a decision. The rest of us are waiting for so long because theyāre seeing how many more slots could be available. In the past few weeks, theyāre probably calculating to see how many people have graduated, freshman entrance, internal transfer, and cap students. After theyāve calculated how many slots are available, then theyāll send out acceptance by waves. Thatās why when you said that those who havenāt been rejected have a better chance of getting in because there is probably a good chance there is a slot for us. Hopefully, lord willing.
@Thompson2688 true. I guess I meant relative to my stats.
I think your probably right. It just seems more logical to do it in a orderly fashion then at random.
Will they even allow spring grade appeals? Or are denials set in stone.
@rtfhopeful I agree. And with that, Iād say that the bottom X% already received denials because thereās no space for them. Hopefully, there is a good amount of space for the people that havenāt received a decision yet. Since Iām going for CS I doubt thatās true though.
@aznhunnielover I donāt see a reason for them to not allow spring grade appeals. Last time I called admissions they said that they would allow appeals for the last spring semester.
If anyone else has any insight into the transfer admissions process let me know. Also from the people I know, 2 have been rejected and 1 is still in review with me for Computer Science. Does anyone have an idea of how many people are still in review vs. rejected for CS?
@TAMU2UTCS Iām still in review for CS.
@Chipaton do u have any friends that have been rejected/accepted/still in review?
@TAMU2UTCS Iām also still in review for CS
@TAMU2UTCS Iām also still in review for CS.
@TAMU2UTCS me and a friend are still in review for CS.
Same here, Iām actually from TAMU as well.
Are most moody decisions coming out Friday?
CS people, what are your stats ?
@TAMU2UTCS I donāt have any friends applying at all, but my stats are.
4.0 with Honors at Texas State
60+ hours
3 LOR
Plenty of clubs & volunteer hours
Average essays I guess, kinda difficult to judge myself there
I got CAP last year but declined if it means anything. Good luck to everyone else as well, wish we all get in. Seems like a good bunch of people hang around here.
Today will be a good day!
