UT Austin Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

So was today’s wave just auto admits who didn’t get their first choice major?

COLA is largest among 13 colleges in UT with over 12000 undergraduate students. But even COLA can get full and next week it will start sending CAP/PACE to in-state students.

It appears to be wrapping up the AA.

I’m sorry! My son got same thing last year. It’s disappointing, but it will work out.

@bp2021, I know exactly what you are saying. My daughter did the same, she worked hard and graduated with an AS (General- 6 months ahead of her high school graduation) from the local community college hoping that she will have all the Texas core complete and she will have a chance to take more honors courses and get involved in research. One thing I am sure though, they will find a place where they will be successful, especially if they have so much drive.

What do you base this on (i.e. OOS and non-AA later today, next week)? There is one Reddit post in the last 5 hours.

I agree. GOD has bigger plans for everyone to succeed. I wish your daughter the best. In the end, her hard work will pay off.

Thank you! The same to your daughter! She has been accepted to A&M engineering if she decides to go that route.

Well anyone can predict that right? If you are priority applicant completed before Nov 1st, UT has only one week left to release decision…

We are still waiting on Texas A&M. Luckily he was born in Canada. So we still have hope to hear from some of world’s top universities such as McGill, Toronto, British Columbia, Waterloo, etc.

Yep, you are correct. That said, it was a bit more authoritative sounding than a f**king guess.

Per the UT admissions website:

Those who applied by 11/1 should hear by 2/1. Those who applied after 11/1 will likely hear after 2/1 and on or before 3/1. UT does not specify different timelines for instate vs out of state applicants.

Here is the link to the UT site: Apply for Admission | Undergraduate Admissions | The University of Texas at Austin

Here is the text:

Timing for Decisions

We review each application individually and consider each in relation to the admission factors for the university and for the college, school and major(s) to which you apply. As a result, some decisions will be released earlier than others.

Generally, you will receive a decision no later than:

Summer/Fall (Freshmen):

PRIORITY applicants: February 1

For students who meet the November 1 priority application deadline; some decisions may be deferred to the regular decision date.

REGULAR applicants: March 1

For students who met the December 1 (note: this was extended due to the pandemic) regular application deadline and priority applicants whose decisions were deferred.

Yes, I am well aware of the language from UT Admissions.

My point is the statement “non-autos and oos should have a wave of their own later today…” sounds like some type of inside info with no back up.

Thank you! She was accepted to A&M also. Thankfully she also has a couple more choices that she has been accepted to, ASU (Biomed and Barrett Honors college) and UM Twin cities (Biomed). Now we wait till March for her reaches and then make a decision.

Do you guys think there are more OOS acceptances yet to come? If so do y’all think it would be a big amount or small? Thanks!

Likely not, it’s getting late on Saturday.

When did you apply: Early decision
Class Rank: top 6%
SAT (with Sub Scores) top 6% in the nation
ACT (with Sub Scores) Top 5% in the nation
When did you receive your admission decision: 1/23/21
Are you an Auto-admit or Review Admit: AA
Major/College of Choice: Cockrell
National award worked hard for
Great ECs
No diversity of interest

Cockrell is the only school that will consider a second choice major. 1st choice (aerospace) was rejected. Admitted into 2nd choice. Going to decline 2nd choice. Won’t be going to UT.

We are OOS. How does AA work? What stats are needed? If kids are not getting their major choices that are AA should OOS kids be worried?

Auto Admit is In State and top 6% of your graduating class. It guarantees you admission to UT only, not desired major

Kids in the top 6% ranking of their class get automatic acceptance into UT, however can be given their second choice major or even a completely other major if they don’t get their first choice. If kids aren’t getting their first choice, it is most likely because the major they chose was very competitive. For OOS or non AA students, it mostly relies on how hard the major you chose is to get into. If it’s competitive, chances are - majority of kids who are AA didn’t get in either, leaving little space for non AA and OOS. Engineering, business, and some CNS majors are generally pretty competitive.
