UT Austin Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

I can’t even imagine…so sorry. That is absolutely ridiculous.

Sounds like an error! Please consider filing an appeal! Sometimes, it’s just paperwork or transcript stuff that gets mixed up. And also, if they denied the first choice major, they should consider the second choice major in engineering school.

It’s indeed frustrating. Your kid will succeed anywhere with that kind of stats. Honestly, if my son is in that league, I won’t allow him to waste the application fee for UT at all. There are just so many better options.

Please appeal , that is ridiculous. So sorry!!!

I can’t believe what I’m reading. That poor kid. I hope she ends up someplace even better.

I think they will look at appeals only after seeing how many accepted their first-choice major.

When I looked at the appeal process it looked like you could only appeal of there was significant information or a change that was missing from your application, which is not her case.

Do you know what degrees in CNS are considered competitive? The more I wait, the more I feel I will get rejected. Oh well, what is one more week of waiting…

dam oos still waiting, but i applied to coe

I heard that last year they offered some students their first-choice major in April without appeal and people who appealed got denied

i hope biochem isnt one of them (stupid of me to say because it probably is with ut). Reading all these rejections is having my friend all stressed out. 1520 sat with 3.8 UW gpa. 9% rank. One of the most intelligent, hardworking and down to earth people I know. Reading these posts and seeing the bad 1000 data destroys her hope, admissions process is so cruel. Praying for her acceptance for our plan to attend UT and room together as pre meds :(.

bad 1000 doesnt rly mean anything, hang on

Did they consider SAT scores? Others seemed to have gotten in with scores in the 1400s. From our school UT really seems to reward sports captains.

I just saw on reddit a kid who ranked 1/642 got rejected from the preferred majors. What is going on at Austin? Is this some kind of yield protection? These kids can be just qualified in any school.

I hope your friend gets in too, but I can certainly relate to what she is feeling.

i dont think they are considering SAT as heavily as they did. from my school only 3 non-autos got in, me and 2 other guys. I had a sat of 1310, the guy had a 1380, other guy had a 1430. We all had one thing in common however, we are all low income
Note: My school is highly competitive and almost everyone takes no less than 14 Ap classes, along with a bunch of EC’s.

I sincerely hope that’s not true (about the sports captain acceptances)…:sob:

Maybe contact the school counselor and present your bewilderment. Maybe this has happened before, and they know a good way to handle it. I also believe there are college consultants who can help. If this doesn’t work out, there is likely a much better school than UT waiting on the horizon.

Did any auto-admits who applied to engineering receive positive news or no news at all? I’ve only heard negative news, which is unprecedented according to the admissions blog. Usually they don’t release rejections early.

I don’t think AAs get out right rejected. Most of the kids, including mine were given the COLA Undeclared major. It is like soft rejection (I could be mistaken). But since most of them are not getting their first choice they are treating this as a rejection, at least mine is.
