It is based on the video released by UT Admissions yesterday. It’s just math based on the numbers released by UT yesterday. In that video, UT said that there were 66,100 applications this year, and, of those, 41,100 were from Texas students (which means 25,000 were NOT from Texas students, including OOS & international). So if there are approximately 850 spots for all non Texas residents (10% of the total spots), then, assuming a 45% yield that means, UT offers approximately 1900 admittances from the 25,000 OOS applicants. 1900/25,000=7.6% acceptance rate. Kevin used a more precise number than my example (1910), so his rate was 7.7%. He’s just using the video released by UT and math to figure out the %. Of course, he must assume the yield because we don’t know what yield UT is assuming, so that might be slightly off, but for the person who said he is another Carol and doesn’t know what he is talking about, he is simply doing math based on the numbers UT released, so idk what comment was/is about or how he compares with Carol. It is simple math that anyone who is hoping to attend UT should be able to confirm through their own calculations and the numbers released by UT (again, the yield for OOS is an assumption, Kevin used 45%, but you can also try different yield numbers–the higher your assumed yield, the lower the admittance rate will be, so assuming 50% yield will make that 7.7% acceptance go even lower, and so on.
Last year’s overall yield was 46.2%. 8459 enrolled out of 18,290 admitted.

You must not have seen the video released by UT Admissions yesterday. His numbers come directly from that. I don’t know where your 13K last year came from, but directly from UT Admissions yesterday, it said that they had 66,100 applications, of which 41,100 were from Texas students, which makes 25,000 from non-Texas students which would be OOS and international combined. It also said that 11,300 were top 6%, so also not sure where your 14-15K number came from, but the 11,000 and 25K came from UT Admissions yesterday.
OOS Priority, still haven’t gotten my decision yet(still says under review). But the Application Status just changed this evening, they added a “To do(required)” item(was empty before), they added “Your HS Transcript”. Any idea what this means?
That must be your mid year transcript
What does them requesting mid year transcript mean?
Your school sent them a mid year transcript and once it’s reviewed by UT, will go into completed list (it’ll say like 15 items), until then it’ll say 13 items or so.
My son’s school sends mid year transcripts to all his colleges on naviance that he has already submitted his application, I saw this happening in UT portal, last Friday they received a mid year transcript and it was in the to do required list, by Monday, it got reviewed and came back to completed list.
Do they even consider senior year first semester grades for priority admissions?
@FrisHIGH2021 The Ivies are test optional this year, not test blind.
I’m sorry, don’t have a clue abt it.
Except certain programs at Cornell were test blind and others were TO. They also just announced this week that they’re doing the same thing next year. I would bet the others will soon follow. So happy to be done with this sh*t show.
Im sure they were so happy to see an increase in applications so they could make that acceptance rate even lower lol
Not really. Senior year grades are really impossible to factor in given that most decisions are released by the end of January… which means most files are read by the time mid year grades are available.
Sometime between when my son checked Saturday evening and tonight, his portal updated to reflect acceptance to Plan II. So if you are hoping to hear from Plan II, you might check for an update. AA, admitted to Engineering just before Thanksgiving.
Funny question, but are you only eligible to upgrade your UT EID, if you’ve been admitted?
That is correct only admitted students can upgrade their EID.
My daughter was accepted to Plan II this afternoon. She was accepted to CNS/Biology last fall.
My sons application is still in review, but we checked UTDirect and under CASH, it has a requirement for upgrading his UT EID before or during orientation…
Any health science scholars decisions yet?
