UT Austin Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

Nothing here, m S21 is priority COLA

I have!

Does anyone have a rejection notification yet?

What are the most competitive CNS majors besides computer science?

Well I guess we have to wait until Monday to see further announcements. This is really giving me anxiety.

Do we think there will be more acceptances? I think there is going to be, but after the next one its over. What are y’all thoughts?

I would def bet there are more to come out. cant be sure tho

same boat , nothing yet

Regarding how UT is rolling admissions for those who are comparing their methods to other schools who announce on one date: Texas A&M, University of Texas at Dallas, Texas Tech, etc. also do rolling admissions like this so UT is not the “only” school out there who does it this way. Perhaps it is the Texas way? I don’t think you can bash the schools for having rolling admissions when that is the way they chose to do it and that is how they do it every year so it isn’t a surprise to anyone. I’m guessing If your kid found out in early December that they were admitted, you would be pretty happy with rolling admissions. It is all in the mindset of expectations. Finding out early is icing on the cake; not an entitlement.

One clarification having been through admissions with UT Austin with several kids, this is not Rolling Admissions…this is rolling decision release. Rolling Admission is what A&M does where applications are reviewed, decisions made and released. When majors fill, those majors are done. UT will release those decisions that they are certain of, hold back decisions on some as they evaluate others, and then release as each tranche is determined. No concept of first-in-first out. This process seems very non-transparent. I used to be team “at least they are providing info to students as soon as they have it rather than making them wait for some arbitrary set date”, but this year with all the uncertainty our kids have gone through with COVID, it feels inappropriate. As a parent of longhorns, I will say the process is worth the anxiety but the process should be improved (across all schools, I will add).

Very helpful information. Thanks

Does Rice University live up to its name? And is it better than UT Austin?

If you are smart and from a rich family, you will probably have a better experience at Rice than at UT. A great name in Biological Sciences, but not so much in areas like Business. CS is very good at Rice, but lacks a critical mass of faculty members. Most of UT CS professors did their Ph.D. at MIT, Stanford, CMU, and Berkeley, or some other top-10 school. The catch, though, is that they will not be teaching huge Undergrad classes.

Rice engineering’s middle 50% SAT is 1490-1560 with a very diverse class. Its pre-business students also get more IB and consulting jobs per cap than UT. However it doesn’t have the Greek system and big time sports that UT does and costs more if you’re from an upper middle class family.

I have to ask this: what is the Greek system? Sorry, I’m from another country.

First post from parent of DS2025. Have been reading thread and wondering if anyone knows if UT has ever released acceptances on the same day as cap/pace/rejections? I saw the earlier post about the phone call to UT and them saying more decisions would be released Monday, 2/1. A decision doesn’t necessarily mean any acceptances. I hope it means there are more acceptances to come, but just wondering about prior years. Best of luck to everyone still waiting.

Has anyone been accepted to COFA- Art History major?
