UT Austin Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

Not sure, but I keep seeing people post about UTSA as a “feeder” school. Just so u know I have heard it was more of a commuter type feel and older student body as military people attending classes. Friend went to UT Tyler for the 1 year and loves it.

Read about Pace on the website - it includes a lot of info. regarding what majors you are able to declare. But I do know the PACE kids are able to live in UT dorms, etc. They are also able to participate in everything on UT campus like sports pass, greek life etc.

I have the same question and also that since she had applied to McComb’s, wanted to know if she should take this up and eventually get a degree from UT Austin majoring in Computer Science (if that is possible) and Economics? She has been admitted to May’s school of business at A&M. Any advice would be very much appreciated. TIA!

My friend’s daughter was CAP last year and she took it. you will have to work around the courses as you cannot use the AP credits for the 30 credits. you will have to reapply to UT (
even though you are guarneeted - no need to pay the application fee). She applied for transfer to public health and she got in. The transfer she heard only by August but for COLA , she heard in June.

she is guaranteed in Economcis if she takes up CAP. GEtting into computer science and McCombs, you will have to take the risk . I would say if she wants to do business and not worry about the hazzle of whether she gets into McCombs (UT as we know is very poor in handling the stress quotient) go for May’s.

Has anyone heard of someone taking CAPS and then successfully transferring into engineering?

i think cns honors decisions are being treated as regular instead of priority

i am still not able to find the list of courses he needs to take in ACC. With so many AP, not sure what he can take in ACC towards core .

DD OOS RD Colorado rejected 3.94uw, 4.3w, 9APs 5Honors . Oh well she got admitted to some good schools so she is okay.

very very slim chance. not worth the risk.

what major? did you find the link where they listed the courses to take for PACE for the 24 credits.

TAMU have PSA which is equivalent to PACE.

Son got CAP yesterday and so did his other two highly qualified friends. All three of them have SAT over 1560 and are feeling insulted. Many of the their friends at STA 1400 got in. I asked them on their CAP choice and was told “why do we need to work so hard for our first year to get back to the main campus after we worked so hard for the entire high school, just to be with the kids who had lower grades than us first place?”

Just want to share the experience we have… My two older daughters applied to UT a few years ago. One got CAP in Neuro and one got PACE for BME. We decided to go different route and not take this path since it’s not guarantee you back to UT except for COLA. So one went to Baylor Neuroscience and after a year, transfer back to UT and then to UT Nursing. Successfully went thru this path but does take her an extra yr to get her degree. My second reluctantly went to A&M Eng and was planning to do a transfer back to UT after a year. BUT she enjoyed A&M so much that we stayed and graduate there with BME and now has a full ride to phD program at UTSW/UTA. This ends up to be one of the best decision for her. Now, my son just got CAP last night in ENG and is planning to go to A&M to follow his sister’s footstep. I know many are disappointed esp after working so hard for the last 12years to get to this point. This year is especially hard for many. I saw folks with 1560 SAT and still get CAP. But if you got this far, you will be successful at where ever you end up. It’s really a degree choice vs college name. We personally will not take the risk that you might not get to your major esp is you already have good alternatives. Good luck everyone. You all will do great.

Because the admissions process is much more then just test scores

Thanks for sharing your experiences! My son has full scholarship from A&M and if we don’t get into other schools, we will let go CAP and attend MAYS.

Well, he is semifinalist, president of two students clubs, robotics, soccer team lead, Treasury of NHS…not just scores.

I agree, my daughter was capped and she is much more than her scores.

Is anyone thinking of appealing? Any advice on that?
