There was an autoadmit banner that appeared in bold at the top of the mystatus page last cycle. It appeared very early for my LH (he applied on 8/1). This cycle it seems (from forums posts at least) no one has gotten one yet. Maybe a thing of the past? Who knows. I recall he also might have been sent a physical letter of “you have met the reqts for autoadmission in Texas” but that was from TEA or maybe our school district, not UT.
Less than 200? Where did you hear that number? There were multiple at each of the three schools I know of in my neighborhood (1 public, 2 private). I knew it wasn’t a lot but given that I knew of more than a dozen in a small area I am surprised it was only 200.
You are talking about the 12/10/24 wave correct? Not the super small batch (5%) of EA accepted students on 1/15/25?
Like I mentioned above texadmissions guy (if you dont know who that is, google it) mentioned the size and randomness of the December 10th wave (the only unannounced wave) in his blog last year: "When might I receive my UT-Austin major decision? Does UT have rolling admissions for freshman?" — Tex Admissions He also did some verbal commentary in his videos posted after 12/10 of his guesstimate of the size.
Numbers were discussed in FB groups around the same time period - one group was College Bound Texas and the number thrown around there was 90.
People who were admitted that night gave their stats - go look at reddit and the college Confidential 2029 group posted on or just after 12/10. You will see a pattern of 1590 and 1600s.
Everyone held their breath waiting for a rumored 2nd wave on 12/15 that never came because the prior year UT did 2 waves in December - one very small followed by a larger one - and everyone was looking for a return of that pattern. It never came.
So if you’re bored (cuz that wait til 1/15 is torture)…check those out. And check texadmission guys video right after the 1/15 EA decision “disappointment day” - we have to hope UT doesnt defer 95% of EA applicants this year but it is better to expect the worst and then be pleasantly surprised than vice versa.
Yes I was talking about December admits but there were still a handful of January admits at my kid’s HS as well. (I don’t know about January admits from the other two schools I mentioned). Anyway good luck to you and if it makes you feel better I know we won’t hear 1/15 because my kid applied to CFA and they only do RD. So it’s 2/15 for us. Hook em.
The waiting on this. Especially for the autos. Most of our DD’s others are in, yet we have another month to see if she got her major or not.
Would examples on perfect or near perfect scores be 35 or 36 ACT, for instance?
DS got acceptance notification for BME (first choice major). Applied EA on Oct 15.
Congrats and Hook’Em!
UT Admissions certainly does keep people on their toes…another unannounced pre-xmas wave (I didnt think they would do it again, it was torture last cycle waiting each week for the next unscheduled one that never came).
Yes! 6 people I know (4 at one school, 2 at another) have already posted today on their school instagram that they are in and going to UT!
Where do you live?
What a great Christmas present to know early! It’ll take several weeks (could be more) to get that GONE TO TEXAS package in the mail, keep an eye out and remember to take photos with it! Mine actually uses his as decoration in his dorm.
Are they all high SAT/ACT?
no…….
Interesting!!! Something to think about to pass the time until Jan 15!
Do they send an email or do you just have to go log into your account to find it?
I think it was an email to check MyStatus page.
I doubt it but I don’t know. I only say that because four were admitted to a major that is typically considered relatively easy admit. I don’t mean to disparage anyone by saying that so I won’t name the major but i don’t think they were all super high scores and definitely not all auto admit
In Texas
Anyone hear from LBJ school of public affairs? Its tough when some decisions roll out early, now DD is constantly checking!
On the portal there is a small link on the right that says you can apply for housing. Asks a bunch of questions and then wants you to pay a non-refundable $100. Not even admitted yet. Is this for admitted only?
