UT Austin class of c/o 2022 admissions

@mss1217 They did not do a wait list last year and it sounds like they did not do one this year so far. I have heard ( years ago) that sometimes someCapped people got invited to join UT Austin instead but not usuallly in their first choice major.

I got into McCombs last night.

IM STILL WAITING TOO. my decision is postponed on or before feb 27th. i cannot wait any longer, i might as well just have waited to submit until december

I just called admisssuons in austin they said admissions are rolling out all day. Ughhh still in review for McCombs.

@texasrocks999 IM STILL WAITING TOO. my decision is postponed on or before feb 27th. i cannot wait any longer, i might as well just have waited to submit until december

Why do I find it amusing that DD had her application, scores and transcript submitted and marked received by UT on August 2nd (LOR was received Aug 7). WAY before the priority deadline and here she is 6 months later and her portal still says In Review is she really going to be in the tail end of priority notifications?! Uuuggghhh UT you are killing this Momma! Good things come to those who wait, right?

selected major: Engineering
SAT: 1310
GPA: 3.72
rank: 20/84
70+ dual credit hours
(have taken college algebra, currently enrolled in university calculus)

Capped and awaiting A&M response. I knew that engineering was competitive, I didn’t realize the level of selectivity until scrolling through this discussion. Thinking about applying to UT Dallas as well. Should I consider the cap program at all given the difficulty enrolling in engineering, or should I just choose A&M (assuming I get in).

@labegg same. I finished everything Aug 2, but sent a second transcript after Nov 1. I should be priority I think. I am just trying to wait things out. Hope for the best. Good luck to you!

@“NotFeelingIt:(” With all of those hours in Dual Credit- Cap wont help you. you can Apply as a transfer student. you only need 30 hours. Engineering would be tough either with CAP or as a transfer though.

@Janetmw I am sorry for hearing your son didn’t get in. I think your son should appeal if UT is really his first choice. make sure give school something related computer, math and science. My daughter has little better SAT than your son, but she is top2%, also a girl, lots of APs(including , calculus, chemistry, physics C) ttended Girls Who Code at Indeed, First Bite at UT Austin, also had her computer Science teacher wrote her recommendation. Don’t know if your son took Sat subject or not? I heard some students appealed and got in although not CS. Good luck!

@“NotFeelingIt:(” if you were my kid…and you have an acceptance to an engineering program at another school I tell you to not do CAP, particularly for engineering. Freshman level engineering curriculum is specifically designed to weed, maintaining the necessary GPA to get a CAP transfer into engineering at UT is EXTRA hard. Have you considered TX Tech?

Accepted into Electrical/Computer Engineering
UW: 3.9/4.0
W: 5.3/6.0
1480 SAT
Robotics pres
Summer internships at NASA and STMicroelectronics (10th and 11th grade)
Soccer and Cross Country/Track
Great rec letter

What times are the waves?

@labegg @tb2000 Thats along the lines of how my parents feel. I didn’t apply for TX Tech and the deadline was January 1st I believe. I have applied to a school in northeast where I have a pretty solid chance, although cost will be a problem. I have thought about applying to Trinity University (in SA), I think their stats are higher though. I think the two most likely candidates are A&M and UT Dallas (UT Dallas is not associated w/ the cap program). Do I have a good shot at A&M? I thought I had a shot at UT engineering, apparently I was mistaken given the better applicants who’ve been denied.

@“NotFeelingIt:(” I gave up trying to guess who gets admitted and who doesn’t at A&M, lol! But their Blinn Engineering Academy program seems like a viable option should you miss the full admit. U of H has a very good engineering program too!

Do the waves start after 4?

I talked to admissions. They said they are rolling out all day today.

@TXagghopeful1 it seems that decisions have been rolling out all day.

The waiting and not knowing when we will hear is driving me crazy

Has anyone heard from McCombs today?
