UT Austin class of c/o 2022 admissions

I am posting this for those still waiting. My sons status just updated after 6 months of waiting that he has been admitted to Civil Engineering. SAT: 1400, 780 Math, class rank: 12%, no letters, peer tutoring only leadership, no other EC’s. Essays short and sweet. To those still waiting hang in there and good luck!

@srikayy I called earlier to ask about the deferrals and they said they are trying to get them out with regular decision in the next wave which will apparently be next friday. I don’t know if I believe this will happen but that it was admissions told me! Fingers crossed!

I feel like the universe just got off my shoulders. Just got accepted into CNS Biochemistry!! Top 1% rank, 1480 SAT, lots of ECs and awards. Awaiting Plan II Honors

1430 SAT. Not top 7%. National Hispanic Scholar. 10 AP classes. Sports all four years of high school. Lots of volunteering. Good LORs and good essays. UGHHHH. McCombs was my first choice.

My Son just got admitted to ChemE. So exited.

SAT 1510. top 4%,

CAPPED. No surprise it was defiantly long shot 27 ACT/4.81 GPA/14% class rank. It’s been her first rejection!

Would just like to say to all those Texans getting Capped; write your State Representative, let them know the admissions process/system at UT is ridiculous. There is no reason that kids with the such great stats should be given alternative admissions paths or not be given their choice of major. The 6% thing is crazy.

My DD has plenty of options and been been accepted at lots of other state flagships…

University of South Carolina
University of Colorado
Florida State University
University of Mississippi
Louisiana State University
Texas A&M University
College of Charleston
Fordham University
Trinity University
Loyola University of Chicago

She should have been able to secure a spot at her own state flagship! And those of you with so much better statistics absolutely should have garnered a spot! Texas needs to think about the kids that they are loose to other states, because statistics show that once a kid leaves a state to attend school, they often do not return!

Congratulations to those who made the cut! Onward Ho, everyone!

I was caped as well! :frowning:

So the admissions office said that some “deferral” decisions might come out next Friday ???

@crewship @ShieldOfGod I emailed admissions today about Engineering Honors decisions and they said “We hope to get all decisions out by March 1st”. So who knows, could be rolling like they are doing now.

@charlotte02 yes, when I called he said we should expect a decision way earlier than the 27th. He said if not today then next friday. I also asked if the 27th thing is considered a deferral and he said no and that they just need more time due to the large amount of applicants. Honestly the whole thing confuses me and while it would be nice to hear next week I am not sure I believe it.

@grad201822 At there’s hope! What school/major are you waiting on?

I got my acceptance about an hour ago (major is math). Im in top 5% (3/66) of my class and had a 31 ACT/1310 SAT.

How many receive PACE?

Sometime in the last 1 and a half hours, I was rejected from engineering honors. I think it was because engineering was my second choice and I got accepted to my first choice and its honors a while ago.

Just got denied. Applied to McCombs and Liberal Arts. 33 ACT, out of state, really competitive college prep school with a lot of extracurriculars and a well-rounded transcript. Alright GPA. I wish the best of luck to you all in this college process.

@charlotte02 I am waiting on CNS Biology! Good luck!!!

Still waiting on my ChemE first-choice major. Anyone else?

These results do reflect a holistic process. Great numbers don’t guarantee anything…just like when u apply to any highly competitive college. Although sharing stats seems informative, the reason I think it doesn’t make sense to us is that those numbers don’t give us a whole picture of who that student is. I am sorry. It sucks to work so hard and not feel recognized, but with those amazing accomplishments, I am sure you all will find other great opportunities to fulfill your aspirations.
