Question regarding Apply Texas… So after my DD’s first semester as a freshman she has earned 24.5 credits (16 from college and 8.5 from HS). Her next semester she will be taking 16 credits hours for a total of 40.5 by then end of her first year. What does she put on the Apply Texas appl. for the question asking “You are applying as a Transfer Admissions applicant. Total Hours Earned:____”? If she is accepted for transfer she will have the 40 hours…
Hi! I’m a physics major at UH looking to transfer to UT as an EE major (second choice: ChemE). I currently have 52 credit hours under my belt (31 from APs, 21 from college). I’m taking 16 hours in the spring so I’ll be applying with a total of 68 hours.
I took Calc 1, Calc 2, and a PoliSci course in the summer before my fall term and got A’s.
For my fall term I took Phys 1, Chem 1, Linear Algebra, and Intro to Poetry and got an A, A-, A, and B+ respectively. My GPA for the term was 3.75 and my CGPA is now 3.87.
My only EC activity is that I built a virtual computer using basic logic gates and ran some simple assembly programs on it. Also, I only have one LOR from my linear algebra professor.
I don’t know how much my high school stats will factor into the decision but:
GPA: 2.9
SAT: 1510 (R: 730 M: 780)
The only application items I haven’t submitted are my essays. I’m looking for someone with experience to proofread my drafts so I can make good revisions and finally send them.
Questions:
- Muh chansiz?
- Will my spring grades factor into the decision?
- Should I get more LORs?
Hey everyone! Not many people have posted here yet, but I thought I would share some info about myself here. I’m applying as a fall 2020 transfer for health and society!
-Freshman at UTSA
-3.93 gpa
-28 credit hours
-pretty good resume (lots of volunteer hours + part time job experience, a little bit of experience in medicine like shadowing)
-working on my essays right now! almost done with my statement of purpose and it’s pretty good in my opinion
I’m hoping to finish everything within the next two weeks, wish me luck and good luck to everyone else as well!
Hi! I’m an in-state transfer for Fall 2020. I’m applying to Youth and Community Studies in the College of Education. I’m transferring bc my current college doesn’t have this major & also bc I want to get a certificate in Museum Studies.
3.8 GPA (all As in college, but I got 2 B+s in high school dual credit. with the +/- system, my GPA is 3.85). I have 64 hours (17 at a TXST, the rest AP/DC), nearly core-complete as I’m taking another 15 hours this semester.
I have almost 1000 hours of volunteer teaching/instructing, started a club for underrepresented teachers at my college, and I was the debate team & literary magazine president in HS. Lots of church involvement too. I work as a freelance debate coach rn.
Lots of HS debate awards (4x state finalist), city poetry composition champion, service awards, etc. I feel like my essays are good but that’s subjective haha
Even if I get rejected, I’ll update on here so future applicants have a better idea of stats! Would love to make friends w/ more prospective transfer students on here (& I’m also on the discord).
Hello all! I’ve been following this thread as I am as well seeking transfer admittance this fall. Has anyone heard a decision yet? I know it’s early but I would just like to see how I stack up against someone who was accepted. Thanks!
@giventyl UT transfer isn’t rolling; the deadline hasn’t passed so nobody has heard back yet. the earliest anybody will probably hear back is mid-April. i would recommend looking at last year’s transfer thread on CC to see how you compare!
Just checked today and my application is now in review. Do all applications go in review at the same time or have others already been in review? Thanks.
Ya, my application’s in review too - probably around the same time as yours.
also good luck to everyone here
My application has been in review for about a week. Applying to COLA as a government major. Applied under automatic admission. I Will post stats when I hear back!
Hey everyone! Mine is in review now too, I’m applying for Moody, does anyone know how long apps are usually in review for? Thanks & good luck everyone!
hello! fellow moody applicant here. i went into review on the 5th and a few days ago i called admissions to ask how long the process was between review and a decision. they’re working from home bc of coronavirus right now but it won’t delay the decision process, and we should expect to wait at least three to six weeks between review and a decision. good luck!
@throwaway260 Did you upload a recommendation from a teacher at the university you’re transferring from? Thanks so much!
Hey everyone! If a line saying “We’ve received your application and are currently reviewing it.” is displayed at the top of MyStatus page, does it mean that my application is in review? I am just not clear whether there should be some changes in “Status” if it is in review. Thanks!
Does anyone know when the first waves of decisions will be rolling out?? This waiting process is so difficult to bare… Is any one else finding this waiting period nerve racking?
@ASAR2468 I didn’t upload any recs from my current university professors, but I do have recs from my former journalism advisor as well as the library I volunteered at for community service hours.
I want to transfer to UT and I was just wondering if there is a lot of competition to get into CNS as a nutrition major?
3.83 GPA with 59 credit hours here, and I anticipate I will finish this semester with A in Geology, Geology Lab, Cal 2, Elementary Data Structures Lab, and American Politics (so 73 credit hours with around a 3.9 GPA). I don’t think I will get an A in the main Elementary Data Structures class, though, just the lab. I also work two jobs - one as a college tutor, and the other as a lifeguard for my city (work 30+ hours a week), and I won writing awards in high school. Finally, I will be in a commercial for Texas tourism, and I have competed in bodybuilding and professional boxing. Hopefully this all factors in and gets me the green flag.
Also, upon retaking the SAT in high school, it went from 1200 to 1530 - all I had to do was study the SAT prep books, as suggested by everyone who had a high score, saying personal merit and knowledge of topics is irrelevant; dedicating oneself to learning how to essentially bypass the test is what matters - in other words, the issue with automated tests - any dummy can skyrocket it if they develop the skills to do so (and unfortunately, an incredible friend with a verified IQ of 147 was disqualified from going to Harvard by virtue of the fact he got a 1050 on the SAT).
Good luck, everyone, and remember to redo the SAT if you did poorly, but truly practice.
@SeriousQuestions thats great that you made that jump in the SAT by studying hard! just for anyone else worried in the thread, UT still doesn’t consider any standardized testing for transfers, so don’t worry if you didn’t submit scores. it only looks at GPA/ECs/essays.
Hi! Just wanted to post my stats and get some feedback and just for some reference:
I applied to McCombs and will end up with a 3.84 gpa. I still have two credits needed for transfer in progress, so I have not submitted my transcript yet. I have 54 hours total as a Freshman and 2 years of work experience as a manager. Good luck everyone!
Hey Guys! I was wondering if I could be chanced, any constructive criticism is taken. I am attempting to transfer from Tyler Junior College.
GPA - Currently 3.2, will bump to 3.44 after semester ends with current grades. (Most likely scenario)
Credit Hours - 27
Two essays I feel confident in
First Choice Major - Communication and Leadership
Second Choice - Geography (COLA)
Currently two LOC, Who are from a former manager and a former teacher, attempting to get one more solid one.
Solid Resume - Had two jobs, multiple extracurriculars in HS.
