ChemEngineering for my son. He’s not on these threads.
Nursing for me. I’ve been lurking for the most part on this thread, glad its finally picking up some more people!
In case y’all haven’t seen, some of the incoming freshman that were rejected from the CNS and Cockrell Engineering school have suddenly been accepted this week suggesting they didn’t meet their target quotas. There’s a sub-reddit called UTAustinAdmissions where it’s been discussed all week. I’m not sure how this will/won’t affect us as transfers, but hopefully it’s in our favor.
@TexTransfer I feel bad saying this but I think the pandemic is going to lead to more acceptances this year due to drop outs, international students pulling out, and etc. And I think UT is probably getting ready to compensate for all the money they are going to lose in the fall because of COVID-19 with more admissions.
Hello everyone! I am so glad that this forum has been gaining traction, the anxiety of not knowing what others were thinking was killing me. I actually have read on that reddit forum you mentioned, @TexTransfer , and I just hope that it doesn’t harm us as well.
Not sure where everyone is located at but its 4:47 pm my time so I’m hoping to hopefully hear something today?? nervous!!
@ASAR2468 Me too, I’m in state but I’m not really expecting a decision today.
I’m also applying for nursing! Does anyone know of someone that got into nursing as an external transfer? I tried finding at least one person, but couldn’t find a single person… Thanks Best of luck to everyone!
I have a friend at UT who said that only a handful of nursing transfers were accepted last year- all of which were internal… hopefully the circumstances will make admissions ease up on their requirements for nursing!
@fishies15 I hope you get in!!
@CNSteph thanks I hope that you get in as well!!
Ah, yeah I’ve seen the same as yall in terms of the favor being toward internal transfers getting into the nursing program versus external. Does not help quell my anxiety in the slightest! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for all of us that this pandemic goes in our favor at least for school admissions!
If we do pass/fail for one of our classes, would negatively impact our application? Thanks
If you haven’t been deferred for spring grades then I assume you would be fine taking one class pass/fail. But if you plan on appealing your decision for any reason then you might want to consider taking the letter grade rather than pass/fail. In order to be a competitive appeal applicant, they’ll want graded coursework rather than p/f.
If you’re not deferred then UT won’t request your final grades in order to make your admissions decision. Another FYI- it would be best to not take any classes pass/fail that are potentially part of your degree plan at UT.
Hey everyone. I applied to COLA (1. American Studies; 2. Geography) as a transfer student (continuing education) from Blinn. I have more than 60 hrs and a 3.72 GPA. I wish you all luck…and like you, I too am anxious to hear something in the near future.
Hey guys, I applied to McCombs for Fall of 2020. I also wanted to post my stats and get some feed back. I’m trying to major in MIS (Management Information Systems).
So Far, I have 39 transferable credit hours, all pre-reqs completed with a 3.92 GPA. I submitted 4 letters of recommendation and have a year long internship with GE Healthcare under my belt.
My essays are pretty strong and related to my major since I have a 3 years of experience in the Medical Technology field. I also have an associates in Biomedical Engineering & Technology.
I still haven’t heard anything back yet. My application is still under review when I log into Mystatus. My anxiety is currently through the roof! Hopefully UT gives us an opportunity. I wish everyone luck!!!
@TrokiandoCuhh454 I’ve heard that McCombs is competitive but on the bright side I think you’re a competitive applicant from what you typed. Best of luck! And I don’t think anybody (transfer wise) has heard back unless they’ve been deferred. All we can do is try to keep ourselves preoccupied.
I’ve been checking on this thread here and there to see if anyone’s gotten an admissions decision yet. Figured I’d finally join the conversation. Has anyone applied for summer, not the fall semester?
Based on last year’s thread, I’m expecting decisions to start rolling out no earlier than the first week in May.
