Just wanted to start a thread for UT Dallas Class of 2028 similar to previous years forums. This is meant to share our journey together and hopefully support each other through the process

Does anyone else here have a NMSF that’s considering UTD?

I have two NMF sons that are currently attending UTD and I’d be happy to answer and questions. I also have a NMF daughter that attended OU.

UTD is asking for IB middle years certificate - first time I am getting this requirement from any college? Anybody else facing this as well?

Sorry my kids didn’t do IB classes, but shouldn’t think sending in the certificates would be be a problem.

I was curious so I looked up the IB middle years program. Middle Years Programme (MYP) - International Baccalaureate®
The IB Middle years covers ages 11-16, so well into high school. I don’t think it’s odd that they are asking for anything from 9th grade on. Perhaps your school didn’t document them on your high school transcript?

The transcript covers 9th grade onwards - so not sure what they want now ! Will call an check

just saw in the portal that my daughter got 18K AES scholarship

Does anyone know when is the last day to accept the offer of admission?

Congrats! Mind sharing her stats?

She has studied high school in India…her grades would be equivalent of 4.0 UW GPA, 1400 SAT, a lot of leadership and community service activities…

where exactly in the portal did you find this?

under financial aid in the galaxy portal

Hello . My son was accepted back in October. He’s a high stats kid (4.0 unweighted gpa, 1480 SAT, 33 ACT, 11+APs, varsity sport, club officer, plus a few ECs) and will be graduating HS with high honors. Does anyone know when they let you know if you would be accepted for the honors program? He submitted his housing application but we were unsure about choosing to live with his major since we would prefer him to be in honors housing, and if you choose to live with your major, you give up the right to live in honors housing. We also don’t want to apply to housing too late while we wait and he ends up not having a spot. He only received 5k/yr AES and was denied the McDermott scholarship. Waiting to hear back on Collegium V scholarship and Terry Scholarship (AGI 52k). We were really hoping for more :disappointed:. We live in San Antonio so commuting is not possible. His school doesn’t rank, so idk if that’s the issue. Despite no rank, he’s had success in TX holistically.

He has also been accepted to Trinity, UT, TX A&M, and UIW. UTD is at the top though bc his APs count for a year worth of credit, the accelerated Masters program (so in 4 yrs he can graduate with a Masters when you account for the AP credits), and at our tour the tour guide made it sound like he’d be the perfect candidate for the scholarships and the “comet promise”. Yet that last point hasn’t been the case. He wants to attend Law school after, so keeping the price down is our priority.
