UT spring transfer 2020 thread.

@mba1234 not yet :confused:

I called the admissions office and they told me that we will find out late November and early December if our applications are currently “in review.”

@TroianBacon man that’s so late :confused: I kinda already decided on my second choice. Their housing opened up for spring last week and I didn’t want to Risk not getting a room it Austin didn’t work out

@Galaxyrose I called housing and they kept reassuring me that they have room availability in the dorms for spring transfers! I’m pretty anxious about planning out my housing situation since I’m the type of person that likes to plan ahead…

Same @TroianBacon i like to plan ahead too

Still holding out for this week. On another site it says a wave (non auto) came out Nov 6 for COLA freshmen so hoping we are getting answers very soon and not having to wait until Dec.

Mod confirmed the posting (Sociology)

This is so stressful. I hope everyone is doing alright! Pals, make sure you have something to keep your mind clear and positive. I’m sure that we’ll be hearing good news soon. Much love- Sam :))) that’s me smiling with all my chins

Here’s something I hadn’t expected. If I am accepted for Spring 2020 as a transfer, every single class I wanted to take in my requested major (Rhetoric & Writing) is currently either marked as “closed” or “waitlisted.” So current students have already registered for the Spring and we new transfer students will be stuck with leftovers? I’m not even sure there are available classes I could take towards my degree even if accepted! Not that I would even dream of turning down an acceptance offer! But I’m wondering what classes I’d be able to take.

(Yeah, I know. Planning ahead in extreme!)

@BenDubbed you got in today?
Edit: read it wrong

@BenDubbed I’ve also tried looking at the course catalog for Spring 2020 and a lot of the classes that I would be taking for my major (since I’m gonna be done with most of my general education requirements this semester) are already filled up. The admissions office did say that transfers could appeal to defer a semester but it’s not a guarantee so that might be something you should look into…

Thanks for that info, TroianBacon. Didn’t realize that was an option. I’d just be really hesitant to defer if it’s not a guarantee. Plus, what’s to prevent the same class availability problem second time around? If I’m accepted, I’ll figure out something – maybe a class in Applied Chicken Plucking for Liberal Arts Majors, or The History of Virtual Bingo in the 21st Century? (Apologies in advance to any Fowl Plucking or Bingo History majors out there)

@Tcho07 – If only!!

@BenDubbed I share the same concerns. I really hope they let us know by the end of this month so we can appropriately plan out our housing situations and date availability for the transfer orientation. Hopefully, everything will fall in place once the time comes. Hook em!

If y’all are concerned about securing housing, I encourage you to look into the student co-ops around UT. They’re pretty cheap and most will have rooms available for the spring.

also gonna throw this out, you can use student loans to pay for apartments. There are many facebook groups for UT students only looking for roommates where you can find people with similar interests. Plus, the rent will be cheaper than student housing, you can stay over summer, you will have your own personal room. And its all in walking distance to classes

I guess there isn’t going to be a wave today. My portal is still showing “in review.”

I know it’s pure speculation whether anything’s going to happen today, or at any particular time if today or tonight. But it’s nerve wracking nonetheless! I’m getting absolutely nothing productive done today so far, what with refreshing my status page every five minutes! Argh!

Refresh…refresh… tic toc… come on already!

I am dying of anticipation…

And I’m dying of old age back here waiting . . . and waiting. . .
