@Lurkingland Hi and congrats! You say portfolio - for architecture? If so, do you mind sharing stats? In state or OOS? Thanks!!
Any in-state kinesiology acceptances?

My ECs are pretty strong, that might be the reason why I am deferred. UVA is the top university I am hoping to get in, hopefully, there would be some good news in March.

Does offer letter indicate the intended major or college?
Why I do see any major mentioned on the acceptance?

@drewh02 Based on your stats you should have been admitted. My son got admitted in to Engineering, we are in-state, no legacy, SAT 1540, wGPA 4.6, same amount of APās all 5 so far. Didnāt receive any scholarship so at this point UVA is at the bottom of the list
From the āSchool Choice and Academic Interestsā section of [the application instructions](https://admission.virginia.edu/admission/instructions):
Thanks Dean J for explaining.
@cmecue I must admit I was a bit surprised, but we had a great deal of highly qualified students apply from my school; five students (4 engineering/CS) were accepted and 6 of us deferred. The most unfortunate aspect is that I suffered a concussion in the fall which resulted in significantly lower grades than what is typically on my transcript, so my grades will naturally be seen as trending down, although there is more to the story. Iām hoping for good news in late March, and congratulations to your son!
Yes accepted!

Hello, anyone know when financial aid will be released? Iām hearing reports from several friends who were accepted that it would be today.

Decent art portfolio, essays, ECs and recs
TBH I only applied to UVA as a safety school and I didnāt know much about this school. I was taking a nap and the email notification waked me up. I was so mad by being waken up in the middle of my sleep. I literally felt nothing when I found out that I got accepted and I just wanna quickly go back to sleep before I was too awaked lol. Super chill process, no celebrations, no nervousness lol.
Comments:
Iād say my stats are definitely not the best, but I am pretty confident with my art portfolio, essays and ECs. I donāt do any sports, nor do I develop any other academic fields for ECs except for art. But I would say that I devote myself into doing art, and I try to do the best that I can in this one field.
Iāve won multiple national art awards, had my solo art exhibition, received request from a professional sculptor to use my idea as a public sculpture project in China, done several public art projects in my community (asked by the city government), and have had people buying my art pieces with decent prices ($450+). For prospective applicants, I wanna say that hey you donāt have to be super good in 1000 areas, just find something that you are interested in, and try to make big achievements in this one particular field!
I think my essays and supplements are really what made my stand out.
Also, I havenāt seen anyone having interests in majors that I am interested in, definitely not a combination of the three (urban studies, anthropology, art). Maybe a less popular major also helped with the chance.
Hope this would help! Congrats to everyone who got in!
