I just got this email which appears to be directed to accepted first years encouraging them to enroll and deposit. I am a transfer student, I haven’t even seen my decision yet. Did anyone else get it? I wonder if it means I’m accepted? The wait is soooo painful. I removed my name for privacy purposes.

Dear MyName,

Can you believe your senior year is almost over?! Here at UVA students are finishing up their courses in preparation for final exams, enjoying the beautiful spring weather, and relaxing with friends and professors before they leave for the summer.

As you finalize your college search over the next few weeks, I thought you might like to read what UVA graduates say about this place. Many graduates remain very interested in life on Grounds and serve as a great resource for students seeking careers and placement in graduate programs throughout the world. Our alumni are very passionate about their UVA experiences and many have shared thoughts about their favorite places and events from their time in Charlottesville on this Facebook page at [UVaClubs | Facebook](<a href=“Facebook ”>UVA Clubs ). I hope you’ll enjoy browsing through the comments.

I wish you the best of luck as you make your college choice. If you do select UVA, please remember to enroll and deposit online. Students must pay the enrollment deposit by May 1 to secure a place in the class.

Of course, we would love to see you here next fall but regardless of where you go, I wish you the very best for college and hope you will make your own memories over the next four years.

Best wishes,

I do believe that was the email sent to accepted students, I got the same email. Were you waitlisted? You should check your decision again on SIS and/or call the admissions office.

I am a transfer student. When I click view decision it still tells me I have to wait until May 1st for my decision.

I guess it was a mistake. Here is what the transfer blog said about it. Here’s to hoping that they were only mistakingly sent to accepted students. Guess we have to wait until May 1st still to find out.

Email coming to you

Readers,

Thank you for bringing up the strange email you may have received yesterday. We got some phone calls about it as well. That email was directed towards first-year students. You should receive a follow-up email tomorrow. Here are the contents of that message:

Dear Student,
Thank you for applying to the University of Virginia as a transfer student. We are quickly approaching the decision release date. In order to access your decision, you will need to be able to log into your Student Self-Service account. If you have not yet logged in or have questions about logging in, please contact the UVA Help Desk in the upcoming days. The Help Desk is available 24 hours a day by calling 434-924-4357. In an effort to be more environmentally friendly, we will only mail welcome packets to admitted students.

If you received an email yesterday suggesting that the May 1st deadline is approaching for deposit, please disregard that message and accept our apologies for the confusion. That message was designed for our first year applicants whose deposit deadline is approaching, but it seems that some of our transfer applicants may have received the message as well.

After transfer decisions are released, admits will have about two weeks to deposit, and I can guarantee that your deadline, yes, you transfer applicant reading this, will not be May 1st.

Might have been a mistake. I would email them about it to see what’s up! I wouldn’t be too quick to make anything out of it, but it’s possible you will be at UVa next fall I guess.

Good luck!
