UVA Cav Program Inquiry on Microsoft?

Hi, everyone!

So I have a question about purchasing the Microsoft software at the UVA Bookstore… If I didn’t buy a laptop through the CAV program, can I still purchase Microsoft? Also, how much would it cost to purchase it if I can get it? Thank you!

There is no need to buy your computer from CAV computers. If you do buy your own laptop, don’t spend big bucks on Microsoft software or on a premium version of windows, because:

Once you receive your UVa ID at orientation, you can go into the UVa bookstore and buy a full MS Office suite disk. I think it is about $20. You can also buy a disk to upgrade to a full version of Windows 7 or 8. (they might have stopped selling 7, although some people prefer it). I think it is $15. You need some type of at least basic version of Windows on your computer before you can use that upgrade.

The last time I looked for my son, the disk of windows was 8.0 and then you downloaded the latest upgrade for free from microsoft.
