Very impressive, whoops there goes my spot lol. You will definetly get into a bunch of those schools! is UVA your top choice?
Waiting for decisions is so nerve rackingggggg. I keep checking this forum and the blog like 5 times a day. I canât handle another rejection from UVA
Weâre getting closer! itâs like three weeks from Wednesday at the latest. Iâm expecting a rejection because Iâm a little iffy on those CAS requirements, but the waiting is still so hard.
Itâs crazy. The suspense is killing us.
In state or oos?
@transfer1212 Donât know who youâre referring to- Iâm instate but Iâm also a freshman transfer from nova trying to transfer from a four year so I donât think itâs that much of a boost.
@illiteratemoron I clicked reply on your post lol. CC gotta do a better job that
@illiteratemoron What exactly do you mean by CAS requirements? Are there numbers for that?
I didnât fully finish my CAS requirements so idk what theyâre going to think.
@transfer1212
oos-rising second year
3.92 hs gpa
3.74 1st semester at gwu
no midterm report
I have a feeling iâm on the edge judging by last years thread
Thank you for sharing all of that! I was unaware that you were able to transfer into McIntire through that route but congratulations on the acception! I am a student at NVCC as well and I applied to McIntire. On the prerequisites it doesnât require Calc 2 or Stat 2, if I have Calc 1 and Stat 1 complete should I be covered as far as completion of math prerequisites? I noticed you said finance and itâs recommended that you take higher math classes for finance so that may be your reasoning behind completing higher levels. To give you an idea of what Iâve done
High school GPA: 3.32 weighted
Out of high school I matriculated to VCU on an athletic scholarship and ended up doing terribly there with all the time I was giving up for practice and ended up missing the last five weeks with a concussion so my GPA there was a 0.67. I was studying exercise science on pre physical therapy track at VCU.
I came back to NVCC and switched my major to computer science and ended up hating that as well and was still recovering from my concussion so I finished with a 1.0 and then took a semester off in the fall and ended up finding a subject that motivated me which was business, more specifically marketing.
My grades since are as follows:
Spring 2018 (I could only take two classes due to being on academic probation)
BUS 100 - A
ENG 111 - A (replaced the D I had before)
Summer 2018
MKT 200 - A
HIS 100 - A
ACC 211 - A
ENG 112 - A
Fall 2018
CSC 200 - C (replaced the D I had before)
MTH 167 - B (replaced the D I had before)
ACC 212 - A
ECO 201 - A
CST 110 - A
Spring 2019
SPA 102 - A (12 week online course)
ECO 202 - A as of now
MTH 261 - A as of now
SDV 100 - A as of now
ITE 115 - A as of now
BIO 101 - B as of now
Current GPA: 3.68
In the summer I plan on taking
SPA 201 and 202 to fulfill the language requirement as theyâre both six week courses
BUS 270
BUS 280
BIO 102
PED 116
I took the AP Stats exam in high school and got a 4 to fulfill the stats prerequisite.
Essay: IMO 9/10 or 10/10, very open and honest
Letter of Recommendation: Strong
ECs: Work 20 hours a week, in the time I wasnât going to school I was an assistant campaign manager for a political campaigner, volunteer basketball and track coach, not much but Iâm heavily involved in the activities that I do.
SAT: 1360 (760 Math, 600 Reading) though itâs no longer required
The only reason I took CSC and MTH 167 was to take the Ds off my transcript and theyâre not going towards my associates degree or the prerequisites)
Was wondering if there were any red flags that might automatically disqualify me from being competitive or even considered. If anyone else has any input or information that could help, Iâd love to hear back!
@novarunner97 Iâm in a similar situation as you with regards to doing poorly in school then coming back later and doing better. Rooting for you! Everything looks good to me though I would keep in mind that unlike NVCC, UVA doesnât replace grades for retaken classes, they average them together. With that considered, they might not be happy about the C in CSC (though hopefully theyâll brush it off since itâs not a prereq)
@novarunner97 you seem like your essay is gonna be great, I donât see why youâre not a fit. The rough start and huge upward trends shows discipline and character. For me, Stat 2 & Calc 2 were differentiators because they are prereqs to declare the Econ major that most people donât have, so I used that to show initiative and is hopefully what got me off the waitlist.
Re: math in finance, not really necessary beyond Calc 1 unless you want to work in S&T. Math is for the quant positions, so it depends on what you want to do in Finance
Highschool: 3.6 unweighted. Sat: 1980 and 1380 Act: 29⊠Boatload extracurricular: started club and raised over 6,000 in first year for veterans, 4 year varsity athlete, key club transurer, a bunch more that show leadership and community service. However, grades were not top priority due to football and my goal to play in college.
College: UNCW
3.84 GPA
Over 60 credits
In a good amount of clubs and have done habitat for humanity and have leader Roles in some clubs.
Deans list should be every semester.
I am pretty involved, but I only applied to one college out of high school and it was a reach, but that is a long story and stuff went bad. However, in college I performed pretty incredibly and still am involved. I know UNCW is not known as a great academic school. I was just wondering if someoneâs could weigh in on my chances. My sister is also performing very very well in the law school at UVA
Essays: 10/10
Rec: should be good
Out of State
Coming in as a 3rd Year if admitted
Taking my missing foreign language over the summer
Checked the SIS today. UVA updates the to-do list for financial aid. They are asking for Asset Information Request and Family Income and Expense.
@transfer1212
HS GPA was 3.88
First Semester at Clemson (SC) was 3.81
No Midterm Report because Clemson doesnât have official midterm reports
In a few school clubs, honors college, and Golden Key Honours Society, Deans List
32 on ACT, 790 on Bio Subject Test, 720 on Math II Subject Test
Did anyone else have their SIS portal change from No Financial Aid Information Found to Inquiry Access Denied? Mine appears to have made the switch this morning.
Mine keeps saying No financial aid information found⊠hopefully it doesnât mean that I got rejectedâŠ
@norcagh did you apply for financial aid?
I wouldnât worry about this switch if you did not apply for financial aid
I did apply for financial aid and it still shows no financial information found. I guess I got rejected.
