UVA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@ivylevered You have a pretty good chance  good luck !

@illiteratemoron To me, it was mainly the location, the teaching style (at McIntire especially), and the general reputation it has among employers.

@Rjlake33 Eh true, I guess we’ll see what happens. My stats are decent regardless, and I’ve heard that the ā€œrequirementsā€ are mostly guidelines to make you take a variety of courses.

@ivylevered You looking pretty good in my books, mate. I’ve seen how the credentials look like for folks getting into T30 schools. You fit the mold.

@illiteratemoron It’s been my dream school since I started High School. I instantly fell in love with the campus the moment I saw it and I’ve visited it various times because I know people here. It’s that way for some people. It also has an interesting staff for what I want to study (Econ, Math) so I have been dead set on it.

I don’t know if anyone else relates, but if I do get accepted (I have high odds I feel), I have to enroll in the third term of the summer and that’ll be a stress to handle.

@JosDio Ugh same I really hope I get admitted, otherwise, I’d have to return to my current institution which is close to miserable for me… Located in a really sketchy town with nothing off campus.

@illiteratemoron UVA is a fantastic school for my major (political science) and also has a program that is dedicated to foreign affairs. This is awesome since I want to become a foreign service officer eventually. Plus, the proximity to DC means there is tons of opportunities to intern and make connections there. Also, UVA is fairly generous to high-need out of state applicants for a public university. :stuck_out_tongue: That was definitely a big motivator for me to apply!

Joining here because I really want to be in a community of other students who are waiting on results from UVA. The nervousness is killing me.

About me:
Current second year at a VA community college with a 4.0
I never took the SAT which is why I’m at CC although I had a 3.8 Gpa in highschool.

I have my heart set on UVA and it is the only school I applied for.

Hey everybody
So I’m kind of worried. I realized too late that they do not accept resumes so I didn’t bother to mention all my extracurriculars in my essays (although some) thinking that I would just later submit my resume. I’m president of a club at my current school and now uva pretty much has no way to know that, although I suspect my recommender may have mentioned it in the letter. Does this completely ruin my chances of getting in ?? They’ll think I only had 2 extracurriculars when I actually have more.

On another note pls chance me

currently a sophomore at a 4-year in state college
GPA : 3.94

MAJOR : finance , also in the honors college
applying to mcintire
ECs : volunteer trips abroad, president of a local volunteer org, finance club, investment club, finance competition, finance officer in mechanical engineering club
LETTER OF REC : from a uva professor
INTERNSHIPS : a couple internships in marketing nothing huge

Took all the courses required by mcintire, also have enough credits for a minor in Spanish (if that will ever help) + i speak 3 languages not including Spanish

Any thoughts ?

Does anyone know when UVA release their decisions? Cause the website doesn’t specify that.

Officially its May 1st but I’ve stalked the admission decisions on the transfer blog and they usually announce a few days early in the end of April.

@raenbougg I see. I can’t wait to hear back from them and good luck to you!

Good luck to you as well!

Hi all! To those of you sending in the midterm report, how do you submit it? By email or through the document upload in the applicant portal?

@cocteautwins The only way my daughter could do it was to take a screen shot from her school’s portal, then upload the report in her transfer applicant portal. On the blog it said the report didn’t have to be submitted by the school so I hope this is acceptable!

does the midterm report have to be submitted in order for your application to be considered? my university doesn’t release an official midterm report so I’m not sure if I can do that but I don’t want my application to be voided.

@gohoooosss, it is completely optional. I’m not doing it. I read on their site they do not even care about it that much because someones grades can drastically change after midterms.

@wantstogotoharvd after browsing other earlier decision dates, I’ve noticed a pattern of them releasing them on the 4th Friday in April. This year, that date falls on the 26th.

So my prediction is April 26th at around 5 PM

@Rjlake33 I’m putting my money on April 26th as well.

My school doesn’t do official midterms either, but from what I’ve read, you can just print out the form, have professors sign it, and submit it unofficially (on the honor system…if you’re getting Cs and Ds now, it’s gonna be visible in your final grade so it’s not like there’s much room to lie). It’s not required, but if you’re getting good grades anyway it’s probably worth the tiny amount of additional effort.

only three out of my 5 classes reported midterm grades. Do you think this is okay to report? I do not want my chances to be ruined because two of my professors did not submit mid term grades.
