UVA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

I originally just had Inquiry Access Denied for just 2019 after I submitted my FAFSA, but after submitting my CSS Profile this weekend, I just got Inquiry Access Denied for 2020, as well as the already existing 2019.

@Dre51298 did they say anything about what inquiry access denied means?

I am guessing that if ā€œno award info foundā€ means nothing has been processed for award, that inquiry access denied means the opposite

Do you think they’d process awards for applicants that don’t get in?

It’s possible, very hard to say. I know the SUNY schools in NY do

@busybee1234 I think thats why inquiry access denied is an indication of acceptance. If we look at last years thread we know that everyone who was denied had ā€œno info foundā€, so this tells us that they probably only do aid for admitted students as a general rule.

Tramsfermer on the Transfer blog told us that inquiry access denied is NOT an indicator of acceptance. But what they aren’t telling us is that inquiry access denied is an indicator of financial aid, which is then an indicator for acceptance.

@raenbougg What about the people that got it in early march ? No way their acceptance could have been finalized by then

I don’t get why you guys are continuing to obsess and call the admissions office. It’s not going to change anything. Only 4 days to go!

@raenbougg this is just applicable if you applied for aid right? Looking at threads, the people that had no info found and got denied DID apply for aid.

@Dre51298 yeah idk, it isn’t a perfect science. Idk why else there would be people who applied for financial aid but never changed from ā€œno info found.ā€ Time will tell

@raenbougg Haha I just hope they fix this glitch for the sanity of next years transfer class.

@gohoos2019 yeah its only if you applied for aid.

@Dre51298 Yeah it sucks. But it’s all speculation so I’m not 100% convinced either way.

hands down the most stressful week of my life

Anybody knows if it varies from school to school? Idk i havent read all the posts so im not sure. Also, anyone knows what is the transfer acceptance rate for the school of engineering?
Thanks and good luck to everybody

@sophia1997 you can look it up under common data set I believe

Does anyone know about housing as a transfer student? I understand that off-campus housing shouldn’t be too difficult but I’m more so hoping to be on campus to have the first-year experience / social aspect of dorms.

I know with VT for example, there are so many incoming freshman and second years who want dorms that it is a stretch to find on-campus housing as a transfer student. Is UVA similar in that aspect or is it more common here for transfer students to find on-campus housing?

In the hopeful case that I do get accepted, I’d like to be prepared! Thanks in advance!

Doing my McIntire interview today. How did everyone else’s go?

I know my daughter would like input about on-grounds housing as well.

Correct me if I am wrong, but there is an on-grounds apartment complex called Lambeth where a lot of 2nd and 3rd years stay. I am assuming UVA keeps space open for transfer students.

@gnpy123, you are right about Lambeth, but UVA states: ā€œHousing for transfer and upperclass students is not guaranteed, but we encourage you to apply. Availability varies each year.ā€ So there is some space, but it’s limited. You are randomly generated a number in a housing lottery and it goes from there…
