UVA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@h68123 in-state VCCS

hey y’all, so my friend is currently a fourth year at UVA and I asked her to send me a picture of what her financial status page looks like.
note she DID apply for aid 2015,2016,2017 but did NOT apply for aid for this year (2018-2019).
her page shows two rows, one stating 2015-2016 and the other which has 2017. she never received any type of aid and her page reads “inquiry access denied.”
notice how 2018 and 2019 are not even listed even though she’s a current student there, I believe this is equivalent to “no information found.”
I hope this makes everyone’s week a little less stressful :smile:
inquiry access denied could be indicative of acceptance, but based off of my friends page I’m starting to think it’s really only tied to our financial aid applications and not our application status to the university.
Wishing everyone the best this last week we have of waiting! We all deserve to hear good news on the 26th!

 “agree” if you think you’ll be accepted, “like” if you think you’ll be waitlisted, “helpful” if you think you’ll be rejected

Too superstitious to say lol

Truth be told, I think that “Inquiry Access Denied” is not indicative of acceptance since some had it since early march. There’s no way the decisions were finalized in March and UVA also added a new portal for our decisions. All the signs lead to them closing the loophole. Financial aid and admissions are two different departments as well.

Everyone on this thread has worked hard trust your hard work and hope for the best. We will find out this Friday. Best of luck everyone.

This week will be the death of me
 Praying for the best

I agree with you @Greek31kid, why would people have had inquiry access denied for so long? Doesn’t make sense.

@hopefulboy37 I would chime in but I don’t want to jinx myself in anyway lmao

@hopefulboy37 if the GAA does what it says and I didn’t make a stupid error then I should but then again I question myself about why UVA would choose me bahaha

@h68123 in-state 4-year college

How did you guys’ interviews go ? I was kinda nervous hahah

I looked at the data on this table https://ias.virginia.edu/university-stats-facts/undergraduate-admissions and saw that for CAS last fall 60% of instate applicants were accepted, and 23% of out of state applicants were accepted.

For McIntire instate was 26% and OOS was 9%.

Of course this data must include guaranteed acceptance applicants. From what I’ve read only a small number of applicants actually have it.

@raenbougg yeah, when I went to a transfer session at my school the dean of admissions himself made a point of saying that only a tiny amount of people have GAA. I forget the exact number but it was shockingly low- something like 20-30 out of 600.

@cocteautwins Yeah it’s kind of surprising!

Is OOS for someone who lives in VA or goes to school in VA? I am asking this because I am from VA but go to school OOS

Well I was one of the few who had inquiry access denied early on in March, but I submitted my application and financial aid well before the deadline, so it isn’t completely imposisble that a decision may have been processed before those that were submitted late. Additionally, if people applying under GAA from CC’s have inquiry access denied, and they technically have to get in
 I would assume inquiry access denied is a stong indicator. One can only hope though.

@jopak123 OOS is for someone who doesn’t “reside” in VA, no matter where they go to school.

Instate means you are a resident of VA even if you go to a school out of state.

@hopefulboy37 it is possible, I feel like there is too much of a pattern from past years to ignore.

@WatchYouWant Do you recall approximately when you submitted your financial aid application?

@klm63amg I submitted pretty much all of my financial aid info by the middle of February. I was also asked for IDOC forms about two weeks after I submitted my transfer application. Everything, including IDOC, was in by the third week of March.

Based on my previous poll, it seems as if many people on this thread are undermining or underestimating themselves. Only 3/15 people (20%) believed they’d get in as opposed to 47% for a rejection, and 33% for waitlist. Obviously the real rates are not as unfavorable as this, so it is likely that a good amount of those of you that are expecting a rejection or waitlist, could see a more favorable outcome :slight_smile:

So I called the financial aid office, they told me aid is done on a rolling basis Atleast for freshman, and “no financial aid” or whatever on the sis portal means that no award has been processed yet. I hope this helps
