UVA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

Can anyone help me out on the interview? I got the request yesterday and it’s due today and idk what to expect. Is it a real person interviewing you? Also what kind of questions were asked?

you just talk to the camera! and make sure you know why you want to go to uva and the standard interview stuff. i think questions are different for each person.

@jeffreypo there’s an option to see the instructions and it will show you the format. Basically, questions will appear one at a time in the form of a prompt. You’ll be given a little time to prep and then be asked to answer the question in an allotted amount of time. You can’t re-record or look at your recording.

If you want to get a feel for what they might ask you, you can look up sample common interview questions so that you can prepare general responses. Also check the McIntire transfer admissions page. It tells you what they are looking for in prospective students. It could give you a hint as to how you should answer the questions.

@raenbougg yeah that’s what I was thinking, but some people are saying they didn’t feel it out and have inquiry access denied. I’m thinking maybe they filled out the FAFSA last year when they applied so “2019” would still be showing up in their sis? I don’t know I feel like I’m reading too much into it but I’m way too stressed

Boom read the comments, addresses inquiry access denied

Wow @Dre51298 now I’m stressed tf out

So I just don’t understand why last year people who applied for aid never got inquiry access denied then?

@Dre51298 but why would sfs process someone with no fin aid. There’s someone on here that didn’t apply for fin aid and she still got inquiry access denied. Idk I hope dean j is wrong or lying to us bc why would sfs process everyone? Thousands of people applied, and getting documents from people who didn’t submit everything just seems too tedious and time consuming. They have their own students to worry about, not just everyone who applied for aid. Idk there’s less than 3 days left and exams and stressing me out I just need Friday to get here already

I believe her, I don’t think fin aid packages take too long to put tg honestly if all the docs are in

They can tell us what they want but they can’t explain why last year everyone who got accepted had inquiry access denied. I don’t understand it either.

Unless something weird occurred this year and it is different… there has always been a connection between “inquiry access denied” and acceptance…

last year I applied I had “no financial aid information found” and I got rejected. This year I have the opposite. Idk.

So I applied for aid BOTH YEARS… if my financial aid package truly went through last year I would have gotten “inquiry access denied” … but it didn’t and I got a rejection…

This year I actually have “inquiry access denied” so something must be different.

@gnpy123 the addition of the new portal makes sense

To my understanding, SIS is for all student information and it has remained the same for a long time. The only thing different is that decisions will be released on the application portal. Honestly, they may have done this to try and avoid people freaking out about SIS this whole time, but of course we look back on all of these threads and know about it.

I feel like they would have fixed it tho. It seems like an easy fix

Maybe Dean J is accurate for this year, and they actually are doing financial aid for everyone this year?

there’s also two people on last years thread who said they had no info found (one said they “didn’t apply and therefore don’t know any tricks behind it”) and got in. it makes sense for UVA to process everyone’s financial aid documents… sfs and admissions are two separate departments with different jobs, and I doubt SFS waits to hear decisions from admissions before beginning to process documents.
with that being said, either is possible at this point, either it means something or doesn’t, but we’re two days away and I think we’re all better off not stressing about it, what’s meant to be, will be.

Yeah, I definitely understand where you are coming from and do not want to argue! It’s definitely natural for people to have “inquiry access denied” to argue why they believe it is an indicator as well as “no financial aid info found” people to argue why they believe it is not! In the end, we all got this and hopefully will be hoos by the end of the week.

I forgot what the psychology term for this is, but everyone seems to be seeing what they wanna see. Its out of control hopefully we get the good news friday !

@Dre51298 of course! only 2 more nights to go, I wish I can just sleep for the next 2 days and wake up then
