Does anyone know if we will receive an acceptance letter/packet in the mail?
I think so, letter of acceptance mentioned smth like that.
They said about a week on the transfer blog

@JSTECK22 Iâm transferring to UVA from JMU too!
Are you guys planning to live on or off grounds?
it wonât let me post a link to the facebook page if yâall search UVA Fall 2019 Transfer Students itâll be the first one to come up though!
Rejected - transferring as sophomore, in state transferring from well ranked school, first semester GPA 3.96, strong classes, good essays, active in clubs etc⊠Surprised and disappointed, but that is life. Good luck everyone.
@boyandgirl Their transfer acceptance seems super random. How are people with 3.4s getting in over people with 3.9s? I got waitlisted with a 3.9 and I put in tons of effort to the application. Oh well.
@alaskanlegend123 Agree. We probably did not fit into their diversity matrix etc. College acceptance is unfortunately not a fair process and people are not being accepted based on their hard work and achievements. Good luck with waitlist, hope you get in.
I got in with a 3.8 college gpa and 4.2 hs gpa; Im coming from a really tiny liberal arts school in PA. I got rejected from Princeton, northwestern, USC, and Bowdoin when I was a senior in hs and I rly thought I didnât stand a chance anymore and felt like a failure. I got accepted to CAS and im really happy about it but at the same time I really like my college. I just want to transfer because I know UVA provide 100% of your demonstrated financial need and idk what im expecting or if its even possible that theyâll give me a full ride because I came from a really low income family⊠but I guess weâll see
any thoughts if theyâre that generous??
@boyandgirl UVA wants well-rounded individuals not just academics. They judge an application holistically. If there were some hardships in your life and you explained how it affected your grades, theyâll understand. Making a 4 GPA is no small feat, but overcoming issues and making the best out of that situation is what makes an applicant strong I think in the eyes of the app office.
Last year I was rejected, and this year I was accepted. Something I learned was that it is definitely not all about grades- although that IS important, there are so many more aspects that they are interested in⊠I had a better GPA when I was rejected than what I have now when accepted.
@ndcuva I have similar questions, I have a very specific financial situation and I really hope they will accommodate me.
I can try to make a side-by-side comparison soon showing my stats when rejected vs accepted
I agree. When I applied to all the schools I did during my senior year of hs these were my stats: 4.2, president of tennis club (that I made), tennis athlete, secretary of student gov, freelance journalist for my local newspaper, coming from a pacific island, attended and ivy summer school program during my sophomore yr and had a full ride (they paid my flight, accommodation, and classes), went to a university in Hawaii for a summer program and had a full ride also and had a lot more but im too lazy to write
my stats now: tennis athlete, 3.8 gpa, mock trial, coming from a tiny liberal arts school (not even ranked because no one probably has literally heard of it lol)
So really, its based on how you present yourself. I chose to write about my depression in high school which was probably a really bad idea. I felt pretty confident about my essay this time and really worked on it for months.
Accepted OOS CAS. Iâm 99% sure Iâm going to go to William and Mary though (Iâm pretty emotionally attached to W&M lol). Congrats to everyone else! If I donât attend UVA, hopefully my spot will go to one of the waitlists from this thread.
@alaskanlegend123 as someone who got in with a 3.4, it really is a holistic application process. Having a 3.9-4.0 is a really great accomplishment, one that I wish I had as well. However, I had a very large upward trend with my grades, making a 3.9 last semester. @boyandgirl It also isnât fair to say that applicants with lower GPAs got in without working as hard, or just because of certain demographics that help with diversity. Good luck to you guys with the waitlist, and wish you the best.
@Sofiseahawk I didnât say that. I was only pointing out that itâs a very unpredictable and lengthy process. Congrats nonetheless!!!
