My parents wont be able to file their taxes until about April 6th because my dad’s business partner is sick. So my parents wont get their 1040 and W2 until then. I was wondering if that would hurt my chances at aid? Also, we submitted the CCS profile a couple of days ago and the FAFSA in January.

If I don’t get a good amount (as in less than what I would have been given if if my parents filed earlier), would I be able to apply for the full amount possible the second semester/year?

Thank you for all the help. I’m new to these forums so I hope I’m doing this right!

You might have to call the Financial Aid office about this. When you apply for financial aid, you are applying for the academic year, so fall 11 and spring 12 semesters, so I don’t think you can apply for the “full amount” for spring 12.

You apply every year, so in Spring 2012, you can apply again for 12/13 school year. If you do it early then too, you’ll probably get the max amount they can give you.

I don’t know the official UVa policy. The usual answer at most colleges is: submit estimated information ASAP, and then follow up as soon as possible with more accurate info.
