Zeta Psi or die

To be honest, hoogal there is not nearly as much parity as you describe. Because of the way the ISC does rush, kappa and theta completely stand alone with tridelt running the closest third with pi phi and dg fairly far behind them (nobody take offense here, iâm talking in terms of what girls pref/some general perceptions). What I mean by how the isc does rush is, kappa and theta, and to a lesser extent tridelt, essentially lock much of their pledge class during the fall with girls they already know even though they are not supposed to. The ânon topâ sororities donât really do this, and it puts them at a marked disadvantage. To be honest, youâre mostly going to see kappas, thetas, and tridelts at dke, zete, the hall, elmo, kappa sig (Iâm obviously speaking in relative terms, nobody at a door is going to say âwhat sorority are you in?â as a barrier to entry) Because of the way the IFC does rush which is much more open it allows many more âtopâ fraternities to exist versus âtopâ sororities: dke, zete, the hall, elmo kappa sig, ka, although most of these places also lock down their pledges in the fall, but for some reason it allows for more parity. However, kappa and theta have to exclude a lot more girls

Sigh, Iâm getting really sick of people separating houses into tiers based on their opinions. Every single house is different. Every single house has different qualities. Based on your own values, you will rank the houses in different order. I donât care about your opinion. What do I care is impressionable first years (more or less) feeling crushed because she was not invited back to the supposed top tier. Her personality just did not fit with those sisters, and she would not have been happy there. It is not that she was not âtop tierâ material, as many would be inclined to think. This is so utterly ridiculous. So the affluent background girls tend to congregate in the same houses. Iâm glad theyâve found their home. To call someone who âexists just to make other houses look goodâ just because she might not have that background, thatâs degrading and utterly inane. Get to know the girls in all 15 houses, theyâre all amazing in their own way.

If I were to have a tier system, I would rank highest the houses that choose members based on who they truly are, instead of what frats or bars they are seen at on a Tuesday night. But youâre right, melli, to say that every house is different and even within houses there is great diversity. I know that is quite true of my sorority- I can see how some would fit âhoogalâsâ stereotype analysis, but honestly, most girls are far from that. And I realize that is true of every house, even those commonly thought to base worthiness on money.

The NPC Release Figure Method (RFM) has been used by UVA Panhel for a couple of years at this point. Itâs supposed to put the houses with lower return rates on a more even playing field with the chapters that have higher return rates.

Itâs up to the PNMs to get over their biases and perceptions that they are too good for XYZ. Obviously, thatâs easier said than done when there is a deferred recruitment and a PNM has all fall semester to watch and observe campus culture. Donât forget that the actives are watching the PNMs all fall as well.

In terms of how the chapters pick their pledges, member selection is considered ritual, ie privileged information. Every group does it differently and it is up to the actives to decide whom they want to ask back. Due to the NPC RFM, the houses with higher return rates are required to release more girls in the beginning as compared to the houses that are smaller.

I love how this thread was started in 2004, and itâs still alive in 2008.

What are the general reputations of all the frats? There are many more frats than sororities so am curious about how the fraternities are viewed.

hoogal321âŠmy oh myâŠI hope UVA provides you with a bit of a reality check on your way to âthe topâ. I am fortunate that even though my daughter pledged one of the sororities that âexist to make the others look goodâ, she found most of rush absolutely hysterical and loves her group of girls. And by the way, she is EXTREMELY cute, athletic, and friendly. After round robins she said âthere is no way that anyone can possibly get to know me in 5 minutes, so Iâll just enjoy the ride, wherever it takes me.â Good advice for anyone entering the process.

2008 Pi Phi got 100% returns on rush. They tend to be a top tier, with Theta and Kappa, but Kappa is a mixed bag. Pi Phis are good looking, a little aloof and Thetas, like Pi Phis tend to have goodie goodies also.

âŠI canât believe this thread has been revived⊠AGAIN. thunk But to speak of return rates, how about the supposed lowest tiers all making quota, with one notable house making well, well above quota and having the biggest pledge class?

Numbers are ridiculous, as are generalizations, as are stereotypes, as are reputations.

melliâŠAMEN to your post!!

melli is one of the few sane people hereâŠ

Can anyone please give me some insight on the reputation Delta Gamma has on campus and among the other fraternities and sororities at University of Virginia?

Every fraternity and sorority has a different âreputationâ at the University, many of them inaccurate. Judging Greek organizations by gossip and perception undermines the immense value of these organizations not only to the people involved in them, but to the overall Greek community and the University of Virginia as a whole. The best way to find the best sorority for you is to undergo the formal recruitment process in the spring semester.

Is it true that you are required to wear sandals, a long sleeve button up shirt and a tattered baseball cap, which is worn backwards, to get into a frat at UVA?

Go to ACB for the most up-to-date official unarguable final tier list of UVA fraternities/sororities.

Youâll get nothing but misinformation about frats on the internet.

Go visit some when you get to school and decide for yourself.

PLEASE tell me youâre joking! ACB? Seriously??? Total trash!!!

ACB is blipdar now anyway But other posters are right, itâs better to find out for yourself. A lot of reputations are unfounded and are based on stupid rhymes/nicknames for the fraternity/sorority and not on anything that actually happened. But even if something did, thatâs no reason to judge an entire group of people.
