Here’s an interesting article about UVA’s endowment return. Currently, the University’s total endowment is at around $3 billion. Though the link doesn’t give UVA’s figures, Yale and UVa top this year’s investment returns list.

Globalist, Stanford actually had the second best return. UVa had the second best improvement in return from last year. Sort of like the second most improved player award. Still good, but we should be able to get 19% returns like the other major universities.

Actually, the figures there are wrong. Bloomberg only takes into account the University-wide endowment, but each school and scholarship program (i.e. Jefferson Scholars) has its own endowment. When added all together, UVA’s real endowment is close to $3 billion. In fact, UVa has done pretty well considering that the University’s endowment was only $500 million in 1990 - that’s 600% growth in 15 years.
