UVA minmum requirements?

Are there minimum requirements to get accepted to UVA?

No. Besides basic application requirements (ACT/SAT, high school transcript, letters of recommendation, etc.) there are no minimum “requirements” like a magic GPA or test score that will guarantee your admission/denial from UVa.

There are many factors that play into the application. However, solid grades, test scores, and a rigorous curriculum all play a vital role. Things may slightly vary if you have a big hook in your application (athlete, etc.)

Lastly, it is no secret that it is noticeably harder for out of state students to get admitted when compared to Virginians. Higher test scores, stronger letters of recommendation, and better grades are generally needed for out of state students to be as competitive as in-state students.

Thanks for the response.

Yeah I’m thinking that I’m not going to get into UVA.

And I’m from NJ

No problem. Glad to help.

Although I am by no means an expert on the admissions process, I think it is safe to say that are competitive. I’d definitely apply and keep your chin up. Essays/letters of recommendation are also very important parts of the application, so do your best to spend time on your essay (try to stand out but dont write something just for the sake of standing out) and make sure to get strong letters of recommendation. Those are two things that I think are often overlooked during the application process, but can really make a HUGE difference when the admissions committee is reviewing your application.

Best of luck!

Thanks again, I appreciate it.

Luckily while I am not a great reader, I do think that I’m a very good essay writer so hopefully that will boost my chances. I’m still going to applying EA for UVA and I’m just going to hope for the best.
