UVa Received 29,257 undergrad applications - 530 less than Yale

<p>The NY Times didn’t report UVa’s total applications yet for the entering undergrad class, but other sources have: </p>

<p>“As of Feb. 18, the University of Virginia received 29,257 applications for admission to this fall’s entering class. That’s a 3.6 percent increase over last year’s total of 28,251 applications, according to U.Va.’s Office of Institutional Assessment and Studies.”</p>

<p>That is 530 fewer applications than Yale received this year.</p>

<p>Slightly under 14,000 of UVa’s applications were for early action.</p>

<p>This number is also significant because UVa doesn’t spend tons of money trying to generate increased numbers of applications or flooding the world with free applications forms.</p>

<p>Here’s a new official UVa website dedicated to Global initiatives, including UVa students studying overseas. This is also part of President Sullivan’s program to have more international aspects covered in UVa coursework.</p>

<p>There is still some admissions preference for sons or daughters or step-children of UVa grads. However, most still get denied because of the competition.</p>
