The NY Times didn’t report UVa’s total applications yet for the entering undergrad class, but other sources have:

“As of Feb. 18, the University of Virginia received 29,257 applications for admission to this fall’s entering class. That’s a 3.6 percent increase over last year’s total of 28,251 applications, according to U.Va.’s Office of Institutional Assessment and Studies.”

That is 530 fewer applications than Yale received this year.

Slightly under 14,000 of UVa’s applications were for early action.

This number is also significant because UVa doesn’t spend tons of money trying to generate increased numbers of applications or flooding the world with free applications forms.
