UVA Regular Decision - DISCUSSION - Class of 2023

@ sipco100 - Agree it’s tough out there. After hearing about how bad things were last year my DS applied to 16 schools which is outrageous but so glad he did. He has good stats (33 ACT, 1430 SAT, 3.9 UW GPA, 4.18 W, honors track classes and 5 AP classes, multiple year Varsity Athlete, club founder, concurrent college classes with A’s, summer programs in his major, the standard for most applicants you see for these schools. He was denied ED from Vandy, EA from UNC, Deferred EA then denied BC, NE. Denied UT Austin, Wait listed at UVA, waiting on 4 schools but expect denials from those. He didn’t even attempt Ivy. Luckily he got into a few schools which offered him nice Merit awards so he has some good options to choose from even though not his top choices. The application fees are brutal but it pays to cast a wide net these days if you can afford it. UVA is his top choice if he gets off the wait list but I see students with higher stats on the list and as OOS student he doesn’t have high hopes.
