Guys I need a little help - what does the prerequisite for foreign language mean? Like when it says Foreign/World Language3: Completion through the 2020 level - First or second year…

I only took two semesters of a foreign language HELPPPPPPPP

@heyigotnoclue can’t believe you got waitlisted : ( you were so cool and helpful in the transfer thread, i hope the best for you man good luck

@TouristHistory AWWWW thanks dude - it’s probably because i messed up on my interview and i think the foreign language requirement messed me up. its fine

best of luck to u tooO!!!

@heyIgotnoclue I talked to an admission officer for Mcintire and asked the same question for foreign language because I started with taking their equivalent of SPAN 201 and just completed the 202 level. Turns out that it is absolutely acceptable! It’s okay if you only took 2 semesters as long as you completed the 202 level.

Heyyyyy tysm for asking - I actually took the test and just sent that in but tysm for reaching out

Adult learner from NOVA community college system.

I set off on a mission to gain acceptance to McIntire in 2017. I completed 55 credits while working full time in about an 18 month period. Then, spring 2020 semester, I began to fall behind in Calculus (one of three classes) after taking a week away from studying to attend work training. In early April, with Coronavirus related problems dominating my mind, I realized I could no longer keep up. I made the decision to withdrawal. I decided to send an email explaining my decision and circumstances. That person replied (paraphrased): “You can take Calculus in the summer if you are offered admission.”

I was not offered admission. I was not even wait listed/deferred. I was Flat out rejected.

For the past two years, I worked extremely hard with McIntire on my mind. My usually rock solid emotional base was pushed to its limits. I can think of more than one time I burst into spontaneous tears of joy or weathered a few days of dark gloom.

I felt a bit shocked when I read the rejection letter, but I don’t feel bitter about it now. The journey I underwent, from being a high school dropout on the streets to where I am today, was boosted in large part by my drive to attend McIntire. I hope all of you who were accepted make the best of your time there. We will need you to help rebuild the economy.

My stats:

White male, 29 years old

55 credits at NOVA with 3.96 GPA (McIntire prerequisites covered)
1420 SAT (December 2019)
780 US History SAT (November 2019)

Notable extras:

Led a group of 50 coworkers through a dramatic labor battle (Union vs Company) resulting in successful negotiations for higher wages (2018 - 2019)

volunteered for a human rights organization

took lots of programming courses on the side, building IOT projects at home

@IdSayUVA KUDOS to you my friend! Whether you get accepted or not, folks like you have a place of your own. You will be VERY successful in your life! RESPECT!

Just got off waitlist

Congrats! Seeing all these acceptances is so motivating
